And no, not "but they got Zach Randolph for free"` Antoine Walker, Marko Jaric, Greg Buckner and the rights to No. 3 pick O.J. Mayo to Memphis for Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins and the rights to No. 5 pick Kevin Love.
If im a crappy rebuilding team and i have the choice between Love and Mayo+Zach, i take Kevin Love.

Minny got the two best players in that trade: Love and Miller. Love is a very valuable guy, very underrated.
Of course, most of Minny's other moves have been horrible around that one.
I'd take Mayo over Love.

Trade worked out for both teams. They're both very good players.
What does Mayo do better than Miller? Miller is a much better shooter, rebounder, and passer. Mayo is better at getting steals and turning the ball over. Scores 6.6 more points per game because he jacks up 6.4 more shots per game. I'll take the efficient player who can also rebound.
Imagine if they had kept love and drafted tyeke or curry.

Generally the guy who gets his shots by coming off screens/shooting off the pass/set plays run to get him a shot than the guy who has to create most of his shots off the dribble. If you were comparing two players who both worked mostly off the dribble and received very little easy scoring opportunities then efficiency is relevant, but not here. Compare 2007 Leandro Barbosa to 2007 Manu Ginobili, would you say Barbosa is better because the stats indicate he's more efficient?
Simply put: it's only a matter of time before Mayo is an all star contender every year, the only thing in his way is Rudy Gay being a selfish black hole who's allowed to take any shots he wants, meanwhile Mike Miller at his best is a blue chip role player. You can't fault Mayo for being on a team dumb enough to run the offense through Rudy Gay so Mayo only gets limited touches while having no plays drawn to get Mayo high percentage shots.
Or if they just do everything the same, draft Evans, tender Ronnie Brewer, and let Rudy Gay's dumbass sign with another team.
