Yes. Sho signed it for me this past season when the Raptors played the Spurs. He was so kind, as always, and visited with me for several minutes
(long enough that I got in trouble with the usher for being away from the railing so long. )

Sho and I talked about the national team. He said it was going to be a great tournament for us; he was right!

Also, Rasho teased me about having the Slovenia flag- joked to one of the coaches in front of me that the only reason I had the flag was because Beno used to play for the Spurs.

Rasho is a funny guy.


His biggest wish was to play at the Olympics. I hope he comes out of retirement if our team qualifies for next olympic tournament.

Before pool play began, Nachbar told me that his team’s goal for this tournament was to make the top eight. Well, they’ve done that, and they won’t necessarily stop there. Slovenia is 5-1 at the World Championship with an impressive win over Brazil, and with their only loss coming at the hands of the U.S.

After Sunday’s game, Nachbar said that the goals and expectations haven’t changed, no matter how well his team has played. And the win over Australia gave the Slovenians somewhat of a championship feeling.

“We’re going to play more relaxed now,” he said. “We’ve achieved our goal. You have to realize this is our biggest success in our basketball history. To make the top eight in the world is amazing.”

Slovenia’s Uros Slokar aggravated a sprained left ankle that he suffered in pool play. He limped off floor with 5:22 left in the third quarter and did not return.

Slovenia, Turkey enjoy Sunday stroll at world basketball champs

ISTANBUL — Slovenia and Turkey routed their opponents in the round of 16 on Sunday to set up a quarter-final encounter at the world basketball championships.

Australia were completely out-muscled by Slovenia who won with ease 87-58 while Turkey cruised to a 95-77 win over France.

The Golden Star Boomers Australian men’s national basketball team have been eliminated from the 2010 FIBA World Championships after suffering an 87-58 defeat at the hands of hot shooting European power Slovenia at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey.

Slovenia shot a scorching 16-of-33 (48%) from three-point range in the match to blow the Australians off the floor.

Jaka Lakovic had 19 points to lead Slovenian, while Primoz Brezec added 12 and Goran Dragic 10 as all 12 of the Slovenian players scored.

Not smacking Memi at all, but obviously you have no idea who Tanjevic is. I've read an interview with him years ago, and he knew everything about slovenian basketball. , he even mentioned a couple of young players even I have never heard of before and I know all the Slovan players before they step into the spotlight and join Olimpija or some other european club.
