That's a lie.
If I believed I could fly without assistance from technology, I still wouldn't be able to do it regardless.
Well no sherlocke!! You too can believe in anything you want without justifying it.
That's a lie.
If I believed I could fly without assistance from technology, I still wouldn't be able to do it regardless.
But you could still "believe" it.
tbh redzero, being an atheist and scoffing God does nothing but further cement your hipster status.
Basically every hipster on earth is an atheist that scoffs God, except for Sufjan Stevens.
I don't know about scoffing God, since I don't believe there is one.
Where did I say that one couldn't believe something that wasn't true? I'm saying that just because somebody believes something doesn't make it true.
no, you are guilty of whining about this being a buzzkill and then bumpin it on page 9.
buzzhurtoh wait... you were just taking your usual jab a me? and found none other than trite material to do so...
awwwww... I'm flattered....
"BUMP"
To the believer it does.
Truth is not relative, unless one is talking about opinions.
If I believed that red was blue, that doesn't make red blue.
Seems like there are many doubters these days. Some are missing what faith is all about. If one does believe in something then to them it IS true. Doesn't have to be factual to others for it to be true for the believer.
Again, either something is true or not. Believing that I'm Abraham Lincoln doesn't make me Abraham Lincoln.
As with trust, faith involves a concept of future events or outcomes, and is used conversely for a belief "not resting on logical proof or material evidence."
But again, to the believer IT IS TRUE. You are not grasping a simple concept.
I don't ing care what the believer thinks is true. What one thinks is true and what actually is true are not the same, making the statement "to the believer, it is true" pointless.
You just don't get it.
What is there to get?
Thinking something is true doesn't make it true. It has already been established that Christians believe that God is real, so the statement "God is real" is obviously true in their minds.
You are just stating the obvious.
In that case what make you think that what Hawking's says or writes is true? Are you not just believing what someone else is telling you is true? Hawking's has no more proof there is no God than believers have there IS a God. In your words, saying there is no God does NOT make it true.
yeah, it's like when a messageboard poster believes he/she is right but everyone else knows he/she is wrong.
All that matters is what the poster believes.
Spaghetti Monster Law..
sooner and/or later, it's almost always inevitable.
I didn't even read the article, so I don't care what Hawking has to say about it.
And, as Blake above me stated, until theists can prove that there is no Flying Spaghetti Monster, they have no reason not to believe in him, too.
technically, the multiverse theory makes the spaghetti monster a possibility. after all, there could be another universe in which the laws allow for such an en y to exist .
that is why science should stay within its limitations of being mere tautology. everything else is just metaphysics. hawking has to be familiar with the logical positivists.
that is why i am pretty sure his latest book is really more about clarifying his position on a grand unified theory (by clarifying that is what M theory is) and coming to a conclusion on the differences that exist between the variations of string theory that currently exist...as well as cosmic inflation. he needed to fill in the "god gaps" so to speak (by adding his opinion that the multiverse theory is the best option).
because if it was primarily a philosopical enterprise it would be very redundant and unoriginal, not to mention incomplete.
I was referring to page one of the "The Club" forum, not page one of the thread, dufus... the glass on the sidebar was filled before I came into the thread (i.e. the thread was getting many hits/responses well before I entered)... so again, how am I responsible for 'bumping' a thread that's already on front page of the forum? Apparently the snicker of your trite incongruency flew over your head... typical.
And my complaint was more along the lines of, "good grief not again..."
But it seems as though some of the athiest/agnostic campers in this forum need to get their weekly fix of bashing GOD and believers, so be it... I can't change that. Circle jerk amongst yourselves as much as is needed to justify your beliefs, to make yourselves feel better...![]()
I was referring to your whining and simultaneous bumping of the thread on page 9 of this thread, dumb .
I'm snickering at you trying to argue the semantics of the term 'bump'.the glass on the sidebar was filled before I came into the thread (i.e. the thread was getting many hits/responses well before I entered)... so again, how am I responsible for 'bumping' a thread that's already on front page of the forum? Apparently the snicker of your trite incongruency flew over your head... typical.
And good grief, you keep posting in this thread...And my complaint was more along the lines of, "good grief not again..."
It seems you lack the self control to keep out of this threadBut it seems as though some of the athiest/agnostic campers in this forum need to get their weekly fix of bashing GOD and believers, so be it... I can't change that. Circle jerk amongst yourselves as much as is needed to justify your beliefs, to make yourselves feel better...![]()
I can post whenever, and wherever I want to... who said anything about self control to stay out? I called you out on your pathetic attempt to take a jab at me... and all you can do is dwiddle it down to semantics...
Really? That's the best you got?
Keep it going... you're so funny!
I don't care if you stay or go. You can whine in this thread about this thread as often as you please.
Why are you so concerned about the word bump.I called you out on your pathetic attempt to take a jab at me... and all you can do is dwiddle it down to semantics...
Really? That's the best you got?![]()
If you post in a thread, it keeps it up.....thus 'bumping it.'
If you continue to whine while bumping this thread I will. It's very funny.Keep it going... you're so funny!
