I had already clicked the link...got a couple of popups while the link was open but nothing else...no hits on my anti-virus.

It's possible the exploit was in a rotating ad and didn't show up for you.
It showed up in AVG and that's not a particularly robust AV program.
I suggest jack keep refreshing the page as many times as he is able.
