You can always trust corps to cut costs (security = costs), and you can always count on Repugs to cut regulations, and not enforce regulations, give a wink-n-nod to let the corps run wild.
dubya's security apparatus had plenty of warnings for months, including explicit stuff like "planes into buildings", but dubya's exec simply refused to treat terrorism seriously, simply because Clinton did take it seriously. iow, whatever Clinton did, Repugs had to do the opposite in principle or at best ignore. The 9/11 commission, cir scribed as it was by head, pointed out numerous failures of dubya's security apparatus.
Of course, the Repugs, always "sold" as strong on national defense, never admit error, blame 9/11 exclusively on Clinton. As for the housing bubble and Banksters Great Depression, the Big Lie is that there was nothing the dubya and head could have done to prevent 9/11. 9/11 was, like Perry Big Lie for the BP oil blowout, an unforeseeable Act of God.
