Wow, so the Kolb era lasted what? One half?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-ball-to-vick/In a stunning move, the Eagles have announced that Mike Vick is the team's starting quarterback.
Specifically, the Eagles disclosed the information via the following text message: "Andy Reid names Michael Vick as team's starting quarterback. Reid will be available on conference call with media at 6:30. . . . Reid will also be available for cameras following the conference call at the NovaCare complex."
The tone and content of that communication strongly suggests that this isn't merely a situation in which Kevin Kolb is still recovering from the concussion he suffered nine days ago. Indeed, Jay Glazer of FOX reported over the weekend that Kolb was cleared to play on Saturday; absent another blow to the head since then, Kolb should be fine.
It appears instead that Vick is taking over, and that Kolb will be a highly compensated backup.
The next question becomes whether the Eagles will try to take advantage of the uncapped year to sign Vick to a long-term deal.
Stay tuned.
So you trade your franchise QB, pimp up your young #2 as the future all offseason, reiterate that statement as early as two days ago and then decide to abandon the plan completely for a guy who has been nothing but inconsistent his entire career?
Nice play, Jabba.

Eagles source says there was "no setback" for Kevin Kolb and he is cleared to play. "Vick is just playing too well and has all off seasonm"
Reid actually looked upset during the presser. I wonder if the decision came from upper management.

I think the fans made this decision.
I actually feel bad for Kolb. Philly's front office obviously made a horrible judgment underestimating how much McNabb made that offense go, so Kolb was put in a position where it was impossible to succeed. He did nothing wrong, the re ed organization that thought it'd be OK to get rid of a franchise QB is to blame.
That dog killa better not. I'm starting him in one of my FF leagues.
Yes, by the fans.
lol ing eagles.
mcnabb was the one who made that offense go for so many years.
they forcefully need a black qb who can scramble to make something out of nothing with that oline.
No, Reid has never let the fans influence him. This came from up top.
I don't care who made the decision. I just want to win, NOW.![]()
It's always hilarious to watch the queen bag of the menopausal militia try talking about football.
Vick starting QB for the rest of the season?
I really really want to see that
Bring on the popcorn
I've always been a huge fan of Vick and personally thought he unrightfully went to jail for killing dogs while other NFL players have killed people while driving drunk, but yet got no jail time. I'm glad to see Vick making the comeback hes made so far...hopefully he keeps it up.As for Kolb, he hasnt proving yet, so might as well ride the hot hand. It's about winning games NOW, not later...
lol other teams wanting to trade for an unproven qb in kolb

True, because there is a big difference between 4-12 and 7-9. And that's not even taking into consideration getting rid of the best QB on the roster, who while not truly elite is a much better NFL QB than Vick has ever been.
Say Vick is back to his old self the rest of the season; flashy yet extremely flawed as a passer. Do you re-sign him to a multiple year deal? Let him walk and go with Kolb, who is most assuredly going walk after next season? Tag him when it's not even clear if he has the goods or not?
Don't know about you, but the whole thing screams cluster to me.
FYI - The Lions have had the worst defense for three consecutive years and Vick wasn't as good as his stats suggest.
I saw the same QB I saw five years ago. Elite talent that makes too many poor decisions throwing the ball.
It'll catch up with him against better defenses.
It always has.
