The Wire and The Sopranos. The Mind of the Married Man (HBO) only ran two seasons, but it would have been great if it lasted longer.

The Wire is one of the best complete works produced by humanity. Movies, tv, novels, whatever- The Wire is the cream of the crop. It's a classic work, no different than any of history's all-time greats.

    Twin Peaks was fantastic.

The Sopranos was okay, I've seen every episode twice, but it's over-rated. IMO.

I watched all of Firefly and thought it was uneven and poorly written and poorly acted at times. Some episodes were just stupid and fake and boring. Some were just okay.

I saw the first episode of Dexter and it was very good, but I never got into it.

I was going to watch Boardwalk, but it, life's too short.

I've never seen Lost, FNL, 24, Breaking Bad or anything else really. I guess I just don't really like TV all that much.

For drama anyway; re-runs of Curb and Seinfeld are a constant in my life.

    I ing love TV.

We are in a golden age right now. While there is a whole lot of crap out there, cable networks have really stepped up their game in terms of producing quality scripted programming.

"Six Feet Under" and "Mad Men" are worth making the time.

The first season of "Treme" was great, too.

Agree wholeheartedly. There are some amazing things being produced right now.

I thought it was fantastic. Really great. I was pissed they didn't win emmy's, or get nominated. I don't know why hollywood hates David Simon so much.

Having said that, I can't figure out if I really liked it and if it's really as good as it seemed, or whether I'm wearing the rosy-glasses of a pro David Simon bias. Obviously, it was good, I'm just not sure it's as good as my subjective feelings have led me to believe.

I love David Simon, and I liked Treme a lot, but unlike The Wire, it's probably not something I'll give repeated viewings to.

Don't know after that. I liked the Sopranos but I dunno - I probably like Dexter more.

I've watched it through a couple times now and I'm certain it really is as good as I thought it was at first viewing, but I didn't think it was as good as "The Wire." If that makes sense. David Simon is all over it, and Simon is greatness, but I'm not certain it was David Simon at the top of his game. Yet. Some of the character arcs feel incomplete (possibly unnecessary, in a few cases), and there are some issues raised that I thought needed to be fleshed out a bit more, but I think that's to be expected from a first season.

Especially the first season of a David Simon show. The first season of "The Wire" is a bajillion times better because of what came after it, I think, than it would have been on its own, for instance. As long as HBO stays with it, I think "Treme" has the potential to be just as good.

It is weird, Wire was far superior to Sopranos. It isn't even close.

I don't like "The Sopranos." At all. Don't even know why, really. It's got a great cast, fairly good writing (the episodes I've seen), and I generally like the mafia genre when well done. But, for whatever reason, I can't make myself care about anyone or anything that happens in that show.

    Too contrived, maybe.

You should check out State of Play, a BBC show they absolutely butchered with that Russell Crowe movie. The cast was ridiculous: John Simm, Philip Glenister, Bill Nighy, Kelly McDonald, and James McAvoy. 6 part serial with one hour episodes. Once I watched Life on Mars I wanted to see everything Simm and Glenister had done.

The West Wing was great until Sorkin left. Season 1-4 was some of the best tv ever.

I have Treme as well. The shows just never stop - it's a good thing for me many of these shows have ended. I aim to finish all these shows by the new year.

I recently watched the first season of the wire. Pretty in tight show. I'm trying to get mookie into it but he needs more explosions and less dialogue.
