can spurs get involved
Question to Spurs fans. If we got in a three way deal and lost Parker but gained Billups...would you be happy?
denver would not do that unless parker signs an extension with them before trade
Parker is going to bring it this year. He's got too much to prove.
I think most rankings have Billups higher than Parker, his stock really fell after his injury plagued season....hopefully he gets his speed and athleticism back. In any case it wouldn't be worth it unless Parker really wants to leave, more of a lateral trade that would entail growing pains and getting even older although he does have a much better 3 point shot.
If we got Luke would Jefferson be happy?
If the Spurs start the season badly, I could see them trading Parker...if not, I see them keeping him and trying to sign him to an extension.
Thank you for that insight Captain Obvious!
you're welcome, Corporal Dip
I mentioned this in a few of the other Carmelo/Parker trade threads: If Carmelo wants to be in New York, and Parker wants to be in New York, how exactly would this trade work, and what does Denver have to gain from it?
This forum will start bashing Billups, in place of Parker.
knicks having nothing we want....they got no ballers on the team
Parker is a top 10 point guard in the league (albeit near the lower end). There honestly aren't that many point guards I'd rather have over Parker. Plus there's the fact that parker also has history/chemistry with this current spurs team.
Here are the point guards better than parker -
Chris paul
derrick rose
deron williams
rajon rondo
steve nash
that's only 5 so far. I'd say one could make a strong argument that TP is 6th or 7th best PG in the entire league.
And then there's the fact that even though steve nash is a better PG, I still wouldn't want him because he's old as . Parker is still young.
Billups and parker are very different types of PGs. Parker is more of a scoring PG.
no billups is a chunker but I would for lawson and affalo but doubt nuggets end up parting with them
Derrick Rose? That guy sucked in the Worlds for crying out loud. Rondo too can't even hit a ing jump shot so he had to leave Team USA before coach K cuts him.

Rose is on his way to be better than Parker but Rondo? Really? He's probably the most overrated PG in the league.
TP in the 08-09 season was a top 3 PG, if not number 1 as both Chris Paul and Deron Williams didn't have their best seasons that year. I'm not saying TP is a better PG than them, but that is the kind of level he was playing at.
I think people are forgetting how good TP actually is. The only reason he wasn't great last season was because he was injured and banged up.

It depends.... If parker is 100% gone, and doesnt wanna resign, then ill Take Chauncey Billups for 2 years... but if parker tells the spurs he wants to stay and play his career as a spur.... then id take Parker for 5 to 6 years.... But Chauncey is A of a player
By trading TP
Sometimes I wonder about the brain capacity of humanity
sometimes i wonder how so many Spurs "fans" don't comprehend the value of defense, and how it plays into evaluating NBA talent.
07-08 Tony was scoring on teams at will and getting scored on at will...especially at games end when he was gassed.
Ive seen Chauncy lock folks down for years. Ive seen him defend the best in the leagu. Ive seen Rondo dig in on D time and again, and Ive seen him win games with his defense.
The best Parker can do is play good team D when he's motivated. Which hasnt happened since 06-07. And I believe that the amount of defense he plays is directly inverse to the amount of effort he expends on the offensive end. So all that scoring comes at a price.

Just filed to ESPN.com: Nuggets in "serious" discussions on four-way trade w/New Jersey, Utah and Charlotte that would make Melo a Net
Proposed deal, according to sources, would bring Derrick Favors, Andrei Kirilenko and multiple first-rounders to DEN for Melo. Link on way
Other contracts would surely be added to make such a deal work but current proposal also would send Devin Harris to CHA and Diaw to UTAH
