Go past what we already saw, past the 5:30 mark. He is answering questions:

yeah, he was making a joke. Kind of like if dodgeball became so popular that it moved up to espn 7, das sieben!
the great messiah obama aint doing its good to see hollywood take over
Gee, I wonder who called this guy to testify before Congress in 2002....
No wonder you're an idiot.
You believe everything on the internet. I have listened to C-Span often. Want the truth on that topic, start tuning in. I used to watch it regularly. I don't know if they have a link to that. If they do, try searching c-span.org.
So the way you know there is less coverage of Congress on C-Span is the fact that you watch less C-Span than you used to.
Is he? If he is, he's not a very good one.
Jon Stewart is funny. This guy? Not so much.
So WC can't provide proof of his BS?
!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, dumbass, I'm reading your drivel ON the internet and I'm NOT believing it.
nice going colbert.
Colbert has a more cynical brand of humor. I appreciate it.
Colbert is hilarious, good for him.
As for the moron who invited a comedian to testify on this topic, you deserve your impending election night defeat.
Down with the "wheels off" usage, but Colbert testified in character. That may have put them off balance after his eminently boring written submission. It did me.
I thought Colbert would act the straight man. I've seen him do it before. Boy howdy was I wrong about that.
Considering his mere physical attendance at a Congressional hearing in the relevant clips, in essence Colbert testified before Congress as a fictional persona who shares the same name.
The joke is based (in part, right?) on lacking decorum and staying in character at a public inquest.
For all I know, that happens every day. Still, I was impressed with the chutzpah, and as humor, it works.

Sometimes, not so well. The confusion noted upstream was palpable too.
I'd like to begin my five part apology by saying...

Overall, slightly weirded out by it.
(Apocryphal.)
Better attested.
...and Colbert is Colbert.
