Fixed(Note: Spurs were on pace for 60 wins in the lockout shortened 1999 campaign).
2. Gregg Popovich, San Antonio Spurs
Popovich has spent his entire fourteen year head coaching career in San Antonio, winning four NBA les and only enduring one losing season. Yes, he's been blessed to lead David Robinson and Tim Duncan, but the Spurs have transitioned through roster shifts impacting the team's core for years. From Avery Johnson to Tony Parker or Sean Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Lu ck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_Luck_The_Fakers_ to Manu Ginobili, Popovich has successfully maximized the talents of his players and as a result the Spurs haven't won less than 50 regular season contests since 1997 (Note: Spurs were on pace for 50 wins in the lockout shortened 1999 campaign).

Oh no.. IMO He's not better than Jerry Sloan.
Larry Brown ain't better than Jerry Sloan...
Just about any random NBA fan slob will list Phil Jackson #1 and Pop #2. It's how the media has pimped them for a decade now.
Alvin Gentry at #18. What a ing joke.
Right because Sloan had two HOF/All NBA players together for the most time ever played by two team mates (1412 games/17.1 seasons) and they didn't win .
Why the can't even an internet basketball website get the name of sean elliott right?
where the is
Erik Spoelstra
I like Pop but he has done a poor job coaching in my opinion the last three years. Some of his rotations have been awful and his faith in certain players like Bogans, NVE, Bonner has always been a major flaw of his to the detriment of the team. He is stubborn and will not change his ways. Sometimes he would rather drop 5-8 games in a season than change his style.
Pop is a great players coach who knows how to rest his players during the season to be ready by the playoffs. He is a great defensive coach with limited offensive coaching skills. If he helps RC with the drafting then i will give him credit for having the ability to pick talent. Pop is excellent at philosophy, like Phil, he knows how to get his players to play their best and he knows which buttons to push. His best talent is that, unlike most NBA coaches, his players respect him.
It's all about the trophies and the rings!!!
Jerry Sloan & Larry Brown may be better than the top 2 but the thing that keeps them from being at the top is the fact that they haven't won many championships-too bad that is such an overriding factor. Brown has won a championship with the Pistons so.......
Do you really think that's true? Pop is just as much of a winner and compe or than anyone else we have in that locker room. If he thought there was a better way to do something that would translate to a win than he would do it. He does what he thinks will win us the game. Whether that's right or wrong is a different question but he wouldn't refuse to change his ways if he knew that there was a better alternative.
Ginobili being hurt in 09 ruined that season and Tony being hurt all last year ruined that season. Pop isn't the reason we haven't made it back to the WCF.
