They're putting too much pressure on this season with that crap.. and the fact that Tony has even said it is pretty lame. They need to stop worrying about eras and concentrate on winning.

The era really ended back in 2008 when the Lakers stomped the crap out of San Antonio in the Western Conference Finals in 5 games. That series symbolized the changing of the guard in the West.

I think this team has too many new faces and inexperienced younger players to gel in one season to win a championship. I mean lets be realistic here... I love my Spurs, but championship teams are not thrown together in a single season.
And although the core is still intact there are too many new faces playing key positions on this team. Lets hope I'm wrong, but my logic tells me otherwise.

Of course I'll be cheering for my Spurs until the end nonetheless.....

Furthermore logic says that the Spurs opportunity to win a championship goes out the door when their dominant player is no longer dominant. Spurs are desperately trying to plug the holes in the roster but nothing will address Duncan's decline as a top player on both ends of the floor.

See the 2nd round of the 2010 playoffs as evidence of what Duncan can no longer do.

Your laker homer fan head is shoved so far up the lakers ass you can probably see the rafters at the Staples center.

You can Count on two things this Season
    1.Spurs fans want a Lakers\Spurs Matchup.
2.Lakers want anybody but the Spurs in the playoffs.

Because the irrelevant Spurs who've been swept out of the playoffs in 2010 and got bounced in the 1st round in 2009 are really the supreme team as opposed to the 3 straight Finals / back to back NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers? Yeah that makes sense on Spurstalk.com.

Why argue w/laker fan when intent is to provoke and irritate? Spurs will be relevant as long as pop, duncan, ginobli are around. And many of us are here thru the good times & tough times. I doubt we'll see many of these "Laker fans" when their run ends.......and it will end at some point,

KG looks 2-3 years older than Duncan and the C's were the better team in the 2010 finals. Some ticky-tack FT's in game 7, Perkins injury and HCA allowed the Lakers to barely survive.

    For the 2009-2010 season:
The Lakers replaced Ariza with Artest
The Spurs added Jefferson, Dice and Blair.

    For the 2010-2011 season:
The Lakers added Blake and Barnes.
The Spurs added Splitter, Anderson, Neal and Simmons.

IMO, this could be the tipping point where Lakers dominance comes to it's end.

I've pointed this out many times. It gives me a chuckle when I see the LA fans come on the Spurs part of the board to claim that the Spurs are "done" when, if we were, they wouldn't be here. it's the fact that the Spurs aren't done and Duncan and Co. have taken a on LA twice before, and have the four pieces that did it before still intact, that brings them here. it's like they're just affirming what they don't want to admit when they post. Lmao

    You're serious? I'm a Spurs fan and I wouldn't make this leap.
At the end of the season, the Spurs already looked very good against the Lakers. And against almost all contenders that made deep playoffs runs last season.

After all, the Spurs took the Mavs out which was problematic various seasons. The Suns imposed their rhythm and the Spurs were unable to outscore them. It was a match-up nightmare, but they have lost Amare and the Spurs are working hard to catch up with them.

Splitter is the best player of the ACB league. We are not talking about college or D-league there. Splitter is 7", athletic, talented and known for good defense. That's not a small leap for the team. Neal has lead various leagues and college in scoring. Among them the Italian league. Anderson is a high pick for Spurs standards with remarkable college career and he's ready to play in the NBA. Simmons is a proven veteran, career 3P% 40% shooter, previously most impoved player.

    Then there are additional factors:

Jefferson is an borderline all-star talent, Blair is a best. The Spurs system is complex, so they couldn't do much in the previous season. But those players will show up in their second season.

Plus Parker playing at high level and it's not clear if the Lakers are better.

The Spurs still lack a wing defensive specialist, but no team is perfect. I'm sure they will get one the next season, as top priority.
