does your firmware end in .5 or .6? .5 works, .6 does not. Either way if you can utilize it, it doesn't take any time at all. The longest part was the download and for you guys with the evo, that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm pretty sure the root only works if you haven't installed the latest update by HTC Sense. On the Twitter page for unrevoked, they stated that they are working on it.

Seems easy..but.what I wanna go back to original settings..plus seems like why do it if I just want an app.I don't think I'd use it for things. Thanks though man its appreciated.
I know it's old but nobody posted it so I figured I would.
At work, can't see the picture and/or video that you posted. Sorry.
You didn't miss much...
You don't have some kind of phone?
I was updating the kernel to overclock my processor at the time.
Cry, it looks like you will have to wait or do the 15 minute version of the root process. Incidentally, my 528 mhz processor has now been overclocked to 710 and it is flying.
Ok, now I installed Froyo on my Hero. Its like its a new phone. I ran a benchmark on my phone before and after installing froyo with the quadrant app and my score almost doubled. I didn't need a benchmark to figure this out though. It is FAST. It opens my programs in half the time, and I haven't experienced on microsecond of lag since the install. Perhaps even more importantly, after my second full day of use, I can say that my battery now lasts twice as long as it did prior. This whole open source thing is wonderful.
I rooted my phone about a month and a half back.
It was absolutely painless and took about 10 minutes.
This thing is officially a beast.![]()
That post you quoted was over 2 months old, unless you were just trying to give me an update. The thread got bumped because I was explaining that I installed 2.2 through Cyanogenmod 6. My Hero just flies now, and I don't have to plug it in after 6 hours. It legitimately lasts from the time my alarm clock goes off to the time I lay my head back down with power to spare. At this point performance would not be a concern when deciding to upgrade to a new phone or not, only features. I mean, geez, what is 3.0 going to do?
It was.
Froyo is awesome. I seriously doubt Gingerbread is going to offer the drastic advantages that 2.2 has so far.The thread got bumped because I was explaining that I installed 2.2 through Cyanogenmod 6. I don't know, have you seen the rumored min specs that Google is apparently going to have for phones shipping with Gingerbread? 1 Ghz processor, 512 Mb of RAM, and a 3.5 in screen. From the articles that I have read it would seem that the jump from the number 2.2 to 3.0 is because 2.x will have its own dev team for lower end devices which do not match these specs and 3.x will have the same for those that do. That is a lot of power for "not drastic advantages". In the mean time, I am very happy with the Hero with 2.2. Its funny, when I upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1 there was definitely a difference, but the upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 is just insane.
Just got it, any reccomendations
Yep
Dump it and get an Iphone 4
