What is the deal with Texans' love of Big Red?? Someone needs to explain that one to me.
Just had one last night, love em.

Simple... Texans have good taste in soda.
Try it with some barbacoa...
Big Red and barbacoa were meant for each other it seems...
That stuff's nasty. But to each their own like Malaysians and 100 Plus, and Mexicans and Fanta I guess
How can anyone not like a rootbeer float? I don't think I have ever met anyone who didn't like them. I'll have to try it with mint though; never thought of that, but it sounds like it'd work pretty well.
Eh, I can live without rootbeer or any kind of "float"; I hate to ruin perfectly good vanilla ice cream by mixing into anything. I generally love the drinks at Sonic, but mixing ice cream into their sodas, limeades, and slushes is not appetizing at all.
And the Big Red thing is pretty regional. I was born and raised in west Texas and never even heard of that poison flavored Big Red stuff until I moved to SA 7 years ago.
I like rootbeer, but not with ice cream.
Give me a Coke float any day though.![]()
I feel ya Mel...I think I was one of the few kids who grew up in South Texas who didn't like Big Red. I am also a big fan of rootbeer floats...I would use Barq's, IBC or A&W....don't use Mug...its too sweet.
It used to be...I actually saw it here in Lansing a week ago.
It's better with Vernors. Those things are like drops of nectar from heaven.
I think I'm going to have to try a Maine Root Sarsaparilla float. I like it better than root beer - not as quite as sweet/cloying. But never made a float out of it - until today.
But I would never ruin a float with Blue Bell's fake "homemade" ice cream. Ice cream doesn't need 15 ingredients unless you're trying to hide something.
Coke Floats are for ingrates, re s and wierdos.
Any type of "Float" that doesnt involve root beer is a ing prettender .
Bottom line.
Coke is good for Jack and Walker, and a few other alchoholic drinks.... Thats it.
Do you see anyone doing a root Beer and Jack? I dont ing think so. It's just not ing right. A coke float is for ing wierdos... like eating frenchfries dipped in chocolate pudding or some instead of Ketchup like a normal person.
The only reason EVER to create a Coke float should only be when a chick is pregnant and has some really off the wall ed up cravings.... and a coke float, imho, is ranked higher in the " ed up" list then, say, chocolate icecream mixed with picklejuice and luisiana hotsauce.... Its just that ing wrong.

tbh the only thing worse than a Coke float is screwing up whiskey by putting Coke in it. I can deal with wasting Jack like that, but any decent whiskey should never be ruined with Coke.
I drink Jamey and Pepsi. If not straight on ice.
Red Cows are where it is at. Big Red is that soda.
I don't disagree with you on much bb, but I grew up in San Antonio and can't stand Big Red. I'll never understand why people like something that tastes like cheap candy and overwhelms all the other tastes in your mouth. Especially with BBQ - the flavor of the meat is king. For me Big Red just ruins it - my drink of choice with good BBQ is unsweet iced tea.
(Besides almost anyplace that I can buy Big Red also sells glass bottled Mexican Coke, and if those are my choices Mexican Coke wins 100 times out of 100.)
'Ever had a "Black Cow"...a tasty version of the root beer float?
Take that big black cow, and get out of here.
I've never been a bourbon and coke fan. Prefer it with ginger ale, if I'm going to go with a drink like that.
