Sucks, but, we've been extremely fortunate the last several years injury wise.

The Los Angeles Lakers, the two-time defending NBA champs, will start off the season with a difficult task: Winning without the help of Kobe Bryant(notes) and Andrew Bynum(notes).
Kobe Bryant is still trying to get his right knee stronger after having surgery in July, and Andrew Bynum hasn't begun to practice after surgery on his right knee, the Los Angeles Times reports. Bynum could be out till late November or December.
Coach Phil Jackson said that Bynum and Bryant likely won't be ready to go when the season kicks off, adding, "So we have to bring up the game and have a concept on how we want to play the game. That will be done during these next preseason games in the next week and a half."

The season opener in LA, just got a lot better if you are a Rockets fan.

From the main forum ST page, this thread le is delightfully misleading...
Does make the heart skip a beat till you thankfully get to the word "opener."
tee, hee.
Bynum doesnt matter, really.
Lakers still win that one
Please. He leaned on Perkins and put him on the shelf for 9 months.
90% in April > 45% in November
Did you completely ignore the fact that Kobe is out too, or are you implying that the Bryantless, Bynumless Lakers are good enough to be the Rockets?

if a nucleus of Gasol, Odom, Fisher, Artest, Blake and Barnes can't hold the fort down for one month, then there's a problem
Not one go to guy in that bunch, Kobe is everything to the Lakers, if he is out a month, you guys will struggle to be .500
And trust me, you do NOT want Artest thinking he has to be the man...that is a disaster.
DD
You're an idiot, everyone knows Gasol is the groom and Kobe is the wife
That's only germane when Kobe is healthy.
tee, hee.
Hey, Ditty, does Splitter actually exist, or, is he pretend?
tee, hee.
not to think like a spurs fans, but "its only the regular season".
Gasol?
ROFLMAO - how did Memphis do with Gasol as the lead dog? Who is the penetrating playmaker with Kobe out?
Heck, without Gasol Kobe could only lead the team to a 42-40 record.....
Kobe is everything to the Lakers....they are mediocre without him.
DD
lol. Now Gasol is once again cast down.
Gasol is MVP! nevermind Gasol sucks! oh wait! he is MVP! Nah ...he sucks!
I like Gasol, don't get me wrong, he is just not a Batman, he is a robin.
DD
It's uncanny.
The Lakers got some very impressive wins without Kobe last season.
They would also be mediocre without Gasol.
Kobe musta got injured changin' in & outta Batman & Robin attire.
