maybe this one...
Which movies can you remember with a powerful opening scene?
This one got my attention the first time I saw it;
not working again...damn...
it was the LORD OF WAR opening scene
maybe this one...
saving private ryan, nothings beats a headshot b4 you even step ur first step out of the carrier
That wasn't the opening scene.
...I had forgotten about Narc...
that cop was damned if he did and damned if he didn't since a bystander had already been severely hurt and the perp grabbed the baby ...
good one![]()
Star Trek (2009). The scenes on the Kelvin were some of my favorite.
Jaws
and Gladiator
Full Metal Jacket and Casino Royale come to mind.
The new Batman was pretty legit with the Joker robbing the bank.
Its the best i could think of
Cliffhanger.
tbh it's just because everybody blocked out the corny ass present day scene with old man Ryan.
most overrated movie ever. great D-Day scene, incredibly meh on everything else.
I'll never forget the first time I watched Gladiator, I thought the opening scene was the most epic ing thing I'd ever seen. Granted, I was a kid at the time but it still gives me a chill when Maximus looks up and the screen pans to his army marching by. Good stuff.
Super Troopers
That was a VERY good one.
Here is another:
Inglorious Basterds.
OMG, that scene was so freggin intelligent an cold...
Another good one here...
In the DVD commentary they said that they started with the birth of Spock (which didn't make the movie) for continuity (Spock is older than Kirk) but it lacked energy. They said they spent a tremendous amount of time re-editing the first 5 minutes of this movie.
The Star Trek fan in me likes it because it begins with a sacrifice, a sacrifice for the entire crew, and it didn't take a five-minute monologue or a 20-minute burial scene to emphasize the duty of an officer. I love that we used Space a character, the woman who is blown out a bulkhead and the size of the Romulan ship.
I love that Eric Bana says nothing in his scene (except the scream). The scene is beautifully lit--so dark and dangerous--and the transition back to the Kelvin--perfect. I thought that some bit parts--Jennifer Morrison as Kirk's mother in labor, Farin Tahir as Captain Robau, and Chris Hemsworth as George Kirk--made that sequence. They act like they've been these people all their lives, that we are literally thrown into the action. The music is perfect from the roll of the credits.
I love the relationship between death and life, the use of silence before the first cry. The two types of tears in the scene. The emergence of the shuttles as it fades to the Star Trek logo.
Just awesome.
Scary Movie 2 (James Woods is brilliant)
Lord of War has a great opening. I thought that in terms of a movie out now. The Town has a great great opening.
