Neither of them went in with a save oppurtunity. Randy entered the game in the 3rd inning. Hardly the same situation Roy had tonight. Curt entered in the 8th. Both entered with the lead. Less pressure on both. And I'm sure both did it at home. But only Randy did it the year they won the W.S.
They were thinking about getting him because Lee was a lock to New York. Don't revise history. When they pulled their heads out of their asses and offered Seattle the prospect they wanted, the deal went through and Roy went to Philly. And yes, Roy probably would have pitched well against the Yankees. Although the last time he pitched against them he gave up 8 hits and 3 runs in 5.2 innings.

They'll make him an offer he can't refuse. They always do. He's only going to get a 3 or 4 year contract and the Rangers can't afford to pay him. That's why Philly let him go (although they're ing stupid for doing so).
