Obvious Kobe groupie. Everybody that has seen the NBA from the mid/late 90's onwards knows that Shaq and Duncan > Kobe. Lebron is also better than Kobe but he is still too young to be placed in an all time list. If Garnett wouldn't have been trapped in such ty teams for 90% of his career, he would be in the discusion too.

Duncan is on the cusp of the top 10.

You can argue for Duncan over Shaq, West or Kobe.

Shaq never had the sense for the game that Duncan did, the poetry. That would be the argument.

West was never the centerpiece of a dynasty like Duncan. (The logo cudo was simply fortuitous.) But if suffering and heartbreak is the criteria, then West beats Duncan.

Kobe Bryant is the flavor de jure. A disfunctional icon. He never rallied the troops behind the scenes like (I'm sure) Duncan has done. He never led by example (sulking is not an example). If it's Kobe v. Duncan, I gotta give it to Tim.

West should not be in the top 10. Every other player on that list has more rings. I agree with the players, except switch West with Duncan, and the order is debatable.

Although I wasn't alive to see Russel play, I have seen enough footage on youtube to know that he was way ahead of his time playing with a bunch of ty honkeys. If Shaq played in 1960 he would've averaged 60ppg and 30rpg and would be the GOAT. , imagined if Jordan played and had those slow ass white boys guarding him. People say those players were more fundamentally sound but there's a reason that the pace was so fast, none of those mofos could hit a jump shot and they couldn't dribble for . Adam Morrison would be a star if he played in that time.

The Kobe>Duncan argument at least has merit. But Kobe > Magic is just stupid and the writer loses all credibility right there.

Duncan, he put Kobe ahead of Magic.

I don't know how you qualify all that but if someone asked me who I'd rather pick coming out of college I'd take Magic every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I love Bill Russell, but he's getting awfully overrated now a days. Russell had a better team and the greatest coach of all time. I think Russell was amazing, but he doesn't deserve to be considered 1, 2 or 3.

Any list that has arguebly the truly greatest (Kareem) at 7 is idiotic to begin with:

Duncan is > than Byrant and a case can be made that he shaped winning even more than the hyped Byrd or many others ranked above him on this sublime list.

    1. Kobe didn't go to college, so technically anyone who went to college would be someone you'd pick over "Kobe out of college."

    2. I would assume the ranking/list is an opinion based on their NBA careers, not pre-NBA careers.

Well in this case he's right. Russell had no offensive game whatsoever. Other than shooting point blank layups over 6'5" honkies he was as useful as an asshole you elbow offensively. Barely a 50% free throw shooter, career 44% from the field. He's a taller more athletic Ben Wallace.

Russell and Wilt are the two most overrated players of all time. Dominated in totally ty compe ion.

Truth, it's sad that they both needed to be carried on offense by perimeter players in the playoffs. Neither one was ever the leading regular season and playoff scorer on a championship team which is pathetic.

Duncan is very similar player to Russell. I think he would have been successful today too. He was very athletic, BTW.

    Kareem at #8 is laughable.

Kobe's great at scoring a ton of points, but Duncan's first two championships were amazing display of skill and determination. Robinson was in decline by 2003 he wasn't even an all-star.

81 points is great I guess, but Kobe couldn't win once Shaq past his prime in 2003-2004, not even with Malone and Payton. He needed another legit franchise player in his prime to succeed. One could ask, if the Lakers would have won those 5 les (or perhaps more) with another elite SG/SF. For instance, the Heat with Wade playing at much higher level than Kobe won their only le with little help from Shaq.

imagine how many points MJ, Gervin, Dr. J, Thompson, English, King, etc...would have score if they had the rules that they have today...MJ and Gervin would have easily averaged 40 a season more than once.

BTW, I would put Kobe in the top 10. I hate his guts, but the guy brings it every game. He also earns his FTs......unlike Dirk, Wade, Gasol, Paul, and Lebron.
