Oh yeah I had Super R-Type. I think I was able to beat it but only on easy. But I was like 7 or 8 when playing that, and lost interest quickly, because I was always more of a Gradius fan. I'll have to try it again.
I forgot about Amagon last night. Was too into the Rangers kicking Yankee ass. I'll try to get to playing Amagon tonight or tomorrow.
You'll start off the game and think "this isn't so bad" and then a few minutes later you'll realize how truly awful it is.
But, for some reason I always liked playing the game even though there was better out there to play. Maybe because I always wanted to beat it, but there was even something about the gameplay that I liked. I don't know why.
Played it yet Stretch?
I would always come back to this game as a kid 'cause it was one of the few I had, but gave up each time about 15 mins in. Surfing SUCKED.
Yeah, surfing in that game was the pits, but the skateboard level was pretty fun.

oh
wow
this game was really ing bad. couldnt get past the first boss. it made no sense. stupid ing lion just walks and punches the out of you, even if you shoot it 100000000 times.
This piece of is definitely a game where you need the instruction manual to figure out what to do. To beat the boss, you have to press select (if I remember correctly) to power up Amagon (after you've collected the necessary item). He transforms into a giant, muscular Incredible Hulk-like form that can defeat bosses in just a few hits.
This might help.
Yeah, that's one of the dumb things about the game is that you have to be Megagon to beat any of the bosses, but it becomes increasingly harder to get through the levels without pressing select at least once or without running out of bullets.
And, it only takes one hit to die.
Truly one of the best tiest games ever made for NES.
that im not playing that gayass game again
give me another one to try out
You really should try again, the first level isn't actually hard once you realize you can turn into Megagon.
Other than that, I don't know. Honestly, Super Mario Bros. 3 while going through all the worlds without using any flutes or cheats (like getting infinite lives) can be pretty difficult, but not really torture worthy. Can't say I've ever beat the game without using flutes though :/
Metal Gear.
Prepare for the suck.
I like Metal Gear. But its too easy. I can beat it in like an hour.
Once, when I was like 10 or 11, I actually got through SMB 3 without cheats or flutes, although I didn't do it myself. Me and a friend played it for like 4 or 5 hours until we finally beat it. I should try again.
Ugh... Battletoads....
Yeah, I could probably do it, but I don't know if I'd have the patience. Same with the original SMB. I always used warp zones, though I imagine that'd be easier than SMB3.
I remember hearing that's a really tough game. I will give it a shot.
too easy
I played these games as a kid and thought they were ing hard:

Tiger Heli was a good challenging game. Good button mashing.
