but but but...Derek Anderson didn't play in Games 1 and 2![]()
In 2001 (after the Lakers won their first of three consecutive championships) Kobe heard rumors that their first championship was lucky because Duncan was hurt.
Thank goodness these two teams ended up meeting in the playoffs that season to settle it on the court and show the world who the better team was. Kobe decided he wanted to dominate the Spurs and send a message to them by posterizing Duncan and Robinson every chance he got.
In their house.
"We were getting after them the whole series," Bryant said. "We didn't let down. Even at times when it seemed like we should, we actually turned it up."
In front of 36,000 Spurs fans, he simply played one of his greatest games.
His 7 straight baskets in the 1st half help his team to take the lead. Torching the Spurs and impressing his own teammates, Kobe scored 28pts, recorded 5 dunks in the 2nd half. He finished with 45pts & 10rbds.
At the end of the game, Shaq told the journalists something to remember: “I told Kobe he was my idol. I’m serious. He’s the best player in the league, by far.”
In Kobe's four games vs the Spurs he averaged 33 pts 7rbs, 7ast, 2stl and a block on top.
Four games was all it took to send the Spurs home empty handed again, this time with no excuses.

link?Kobe heard rumors that their first championship was lucky because Duncan was hurt.
Hey everybody look over here we have another troll
This is just about re ed and obvious enough to get at least 5 pages here imho.
this is clearly the reason why Spurs fans hate Kobe. he's a spurs killer...
just like manu fans hating sasha...he's the manu stopper.
People talk about Bean and his Finals MVPs. This was the real NBA Finals. That with the Lakers and Sixers - those clearly weren't the two best teams. The two best teams on the floor were the Spurs and the Lakers with San Antone having home court. The best player on the floor in that series was Bryant. Shaquille may have receive the finals MVP for that sixers series but we all know who should have gotten it for the real Finals.
b/c he stopped a gimpy Manu in '08?
He was a role player bro. Lakers would of won without him.
Kobe admitted to being a sidekick during the entire 3-peat..he did it off the record, so there wasn't an ulterior motive or anything..if Kobe says it, how can Laker fans deny it?..
Everybody knows how the Spurs plan against Kobe..even when he was arguably the best player in the NBA in 2008, they still hesitated to ever double team him..
Kobe's performance against the Spurs has absolutely nothing to do with why I hate him..
Ending the three-peat was oh so awesome![]()
Fast forward two years:
TD: 24.7 PPG 15.4 RPG 5.3 APG 3.29 BPG
Phil 4, Pop 1
Not in that series ...... Shaquille gets in foul trouble, who would the Lakers have gone to?
I thought Spurs fans were the ones who lived in the past?
It has almost about everything to do with why you hate him. You hate greatness. You hate his success. You hate his performances against the Spurs. You hate that he has more rings than the entire Spur history including Tim Duncan.
You hate that the Spurs are mired in mediocrity while Kobe is on top again.
You hate that Kobe repeated multiple times while the Spurs never have.
You will have to deal with it.![]()
Past, present, or future, there is one common denominator: Lakers>>>>Spurs.

Let's fast forward to present day now...

having a three-peat was awesom-er![]()
It must hurt knowing Tim Duncan's (and Shaq's) legacy is already set in stone above Kobe though Tim didn't even repeat.
#1 PF ever > top 10 guard
a 100% manu would torch sasha, tbh
