Tim Duncan A- Defense aside, Duncan was nearly flawless.

Manu Ginobili A Shooting and energy kept the Spurs afloat early.

Tony Parker B+ Missed layups prevented offensive explosion.

Richard Jefferson B+ Remained aggressive despite foul trouble.

DeJuan Blair C- Too many mistakes on defense. Rushed offensively.

George Hill B- Horrible start. Improved steadily thereafter.

James Anderson B+ Hesitant but hit enough shots to help.

Antonio McDyess B+ Good rebounding. Impressive hustle.

Matt Bonner B- Needed to play tougher in the paint.

Bobby Simmons C Shots way off. Defense not much better.

Bonner should get an A+ for his limited time on the court.

Once Anderson learns to play defense he'll be really good.
that is 3/4 of what is required by pop
    1//8 shooting
    1/8 rebounding

This may be one of the best games the Pacers play all year. The Spurs had some obvious problems, but the Pacers also shot lights out. I've always said that there are nights when the other team is in the zone shooting, and virtually impossible to beat. Well tonight was one of those nights, but the Spurs still found a way to get a solid win.

When the Spurs keep their turnovers to 14 or less, they win an extremely high percentage of the time. Tonight they committed 14 turnovers - and they got 15 steals! I don't remember ever seeing them get more steals than turnovers in a game. And in the early going they had a lot of deflections that just bounced the wrong way, or there would have been more.

Anderson was about as good as we could have hoped for, in his first game.

George Hill managed to remind all the worriers why he's here, in the second half.

I think McDyess had a settling influence on everyone, especially on the defensive end. And the man still has a great shooting touch.

I can honestly say that I can shoot the 3 better than Bobby Simmons... at least tonight.

Tim Duncan A Solid, as usual..

    Manu Ginobili A Allstar performance.

    Tony Parker A MVP performance.

    Richard Jefferson A Great comeback

DeJuan Blair C I blame Pop, dude is not a big man...wtf?

George Hill A Dude is tough...started off slow but woke up and dominated.

James Anderson A Nailed his first shot...impressive.

Antonio McDyess A 2nd half helped interior defense and displayed some toughness.

Matt Bonner F- tried to dribble penetrate and that automatically disqualifies him from getting anything other than an F. Dude just plain sucks, can't rebound, he is lighter than air on defense, I really don't understand why he gets minutes...I can shoot the three pointer also, probably better than him and I am here at home posting on Spurstalk and he is getting 4 million...un ing real.

Bobby Simmons A...as usual you guys don't watch the game..he missed his shots but he came in and got physical with Indiana and he was part of the squad that got the lead...Great job....definitely isn't a wuss...

    Ehh...More like...

A+ Tim Duncan. He's played an almost perfect game on offense, just solid.
A Manu Ginobili. Shot the ball lights out, but made a couple of minor mistakes, led to RJ's fifth foul.
B+ Richard Jefferson. Questionable foul trouble and free throw shooting is the only thing that kept him from getting an A. He shot the ball well, but he also did everything else right.
B Tony Parker. Played well, made some shots, but also missed a couple of jumpers, which is fine, but the missed layups, not so much.
B Antonio McDyess. Pretty good performance, not much is asked, but he went out and knocked down a couple of jumpers plus played Roy Hibbert a couple of times better than anyone else out there. Solid defensive effort. Still underrated at that end.
B- George Hill. Started off , and then became an improved version of the George Hill that we all have come to know and love but haven't seen this year until tonight.
B- James Anderson. Great first game for a rookie, that's all that needs to be said. But a couple of his shots were way off, that's okay though, two threes dropped and he also proved able to get to the basketball. Did he play like a rookie? Yes, but he played like a really good rookie.
C+ DeJuan Blair. A little disappointed in him tonight, but part of me isn't. You've got to understand that he's 6'7 and can't be asked to guard guys like Roy Hibbert, that will be Splitter's job. Doesn't make Blair a bad defender. Not to mention Hibbert (as well as McRoberts) made some crazy shots and did no better against Blair than he did against Duncan. I needed him to get more rebounds though, but thought some of those misses under the basket that resulted in the other team having a fast break opp. should've been fouls.
C+ Matt Bonner. Didn't do much right, but didn't do much wrong either. Not enough time or play on the ball to rate him any higher, but he came in and nailed a long two from the corner, I thought it was a three myself. Hopefully he'll get healthy soon. That sprained looked ughhh...
D Bobby Simmons. Sucked, but not as bad as people want to say. His lateral movement was a little slow, but existent, he air balled a three and missed his other attempt, but he played decent on the defensive end at the PF position. Enough to keep him from getting an F.

tbh if jefferson plays like that consistently, splitter integrates seamlessly and anderson doesn't hit the rookie wall too hard this team has a lot of potential. let's hope pop doesn't it up.

Not this again. This became the normal reaction to most every Spurs loss last year, and I'm gonna point this out everytime I see it this year. Consider it my way of RTB.

The opposing team doesn't get the NBA Jam "ON FIRE" label everytime they play well, the Spurs just need to play better defense.

Good take except for the (bolded) part about you shooting the 3 better than Bonner, even with the sprained ankle.

True, Bobby Simmons was part of group that got the lead. He played the 4 when the Spurs went small and he played decent defense. The main reason that group did well, though, was the three point shooting by Hill, Gino and RJ...plus some sloppy play by the Pacers.

I think people are selling Parker's performance a bit short. He missed some layups, but he TAKES a lot more layup-type shots than most people.

The man shot 50%, lead the team in +/-, and had 9 assists. He also played respectable defense, and had 3 steals. That's about all I could ask of him.

Give Simmons a chance. He's a lunch pale kinda guy. Once he gets things sorted out he'll do fine (in limited minutes).
