should have put the stadium in a better spot.

This. Loved going to games at the Hemisfair and Alamodome. Though neither of those facilities were great for basketball I loved to go have dinner downtown then walk over to game. Or after game hanging out at one of the downtown establishments.

That being said there is no reason why one of the most successful franchises in sports should not be able to sell out a season opener at home.

First game, Wednesday, against the Pacers, and the economy is HORRIBLE right now. So yeah, sometimes people can't make it to a game.

I will say that the Spurs are bigger than just San Antonio, and have one of the better inter-country followings of any NBA team. So just because we didn't sell the stadium out doesn't mean that we didn't have a lot of people watching.

    Per ESPN: Attendance: 18,581
Yeah that's the thing, I was looking at the game, wasn't really all that concerned if there were enough people in the arena.

So basically the 1st quarter had people arriving late and in the 4th quarter people leaving with the spurs having a double digit lead....

Sounds like a typical night to me.

Here's to game win to the spurs. 81 games to go.

    Gonna be a ride.

Surely this has more to do with the economy than anything else?

And then there's the team we're playing: I doubt the Pacers are high on anyone's must-see list, although I enjoyed watching them.

There are at lfeast 4000 empty seats here at this game tonight....unbelievable
but its the first game on a wednesday against the pacers...so its expected.
Very true. If it was a weekend game there would only be 3500 empty seats.

San Antonio is like the poorest city in the NBA. Why do y'all think people have 50-200 bucks lying around to attend one out of 41 basketball games to fill up the Alamodome?
It actually isn't. That is all.

smh...there were 18,852 people there and they played the Pacers. NO team sells out when they play teams like the Pacers.

yeah right, there were about 14k there tops...the parking lot was half full or half empty depending how you look at it...

it's the season opener...they have always sold out the season opener....

I don't think its the economy...it's the lack of excitement on this team...i still think they will do well but suit up! lol
