Because it's unsportsmanlike? It's just part of the unwritten law of human behavior..but I guess someone who would ask such a question is obviously lacking the required intelligence to get that. What keeps it from happening, aside from the sportsmanship thing, is that the hammer would come down on that franchise like the wrath of God. Realistically who is going to be willing to do a hatchet job like that? Some guy whose career is either practically over or a guy who knows that he's never going to make it in the league. They cripple Kobe with a dirty hit and the league is going to suspend and fine their ass into the stone age. Now you have a shady character who was willing to injure another player at your request who is without a source of income. You think he won't start singing to the media, the commissioner's office, and anyone else who will listen after they take Kobe out? Say goodbye to a whole lot of draft picks
