Rockets are a very good team but far from a legit contender. They need another star, a go to guy.

Rockets are in a tough division. Without a healthy Yao, they can't win the division and especially the West.

he has done like 3 out of the last 4 years and you guys laugh or are surprised? He even admitted he makes the unconventional pick. that is why he said heat would break 72+ wins and why he picked the Rox ...
But he is a dork regardless ...

This 24 minute thing with Yao is a shadow over the land there. And it's not a joke. It's compulsory. He can't play in this league. If his money wasn't guaranteed they'd a sent him back already.

I will still stick with this pick. You got Kevin Martin, who could be like T-mac but without the chemistry problem. Aaron Brooks penetrates to the basket faster than any other pg in the league. Shane Battier had a bad few games, but it will pick up as the season progresses. And have we all forgotten about 7'6 Great Wall of China? I will guarantee Yao is not going to play only 24 minutes a night. Once he and Scola's on, Bynum and Gasol will have no answer for them.

BTW we should give the other team a point if there's a defensive 3 second instead of giving them a ft. It makes the game go by faster.

Yao will be playing more than 24 minutes in the playoffs, when it matters. JVG is a smart guy

    Also, Defense is overrated

Yao Ming's 24-min per game limit is strict...at least through December. Been told HOU will reevaluate Yao then, possibly start extending him

he played for China every summer. Not having any rest over the summer is the biggest thing.

Kevin Martin is the bigger question mark. He doesn't do over the summer yet is always injured.

Van Gundy is terrible at making predictions. He said the Cavs were clearly the best team last year.

rockets can rally together to make a pretty nice run. depends on yao though. if you really think about it, the only team that can possibly upset the lakers are the spurs and rockets. thunders still don't have the bigs, jazz suck, mavs choke, blazers can implode at any minute and/or suffer a wave of injuries, and the nuggets are done when they trade melo.

lol Van Gundy...Yao has to show first that he can play extended minutes, but I do like Dampier and Miller backing him up. And for the love of God, NO MORE Chuck Hayes at center starting the game. I think Melo was out of the question before it was announced he wanted to be traded. I do think Igoudala would be a great addition, since Mr. Intangibles is now useless to this team. Like Kobe once said "just ing ship his ass out" ....and Lowry coming back will help the defense out ALOT

Down 0-2. 80 more games left in this. Rockets will get it together. It took Shannon Brown going completely crazy and Monta Ellis going into God-mode for the Rockets to lose their two games by a combined six points. With Erica Dampier now on the Rockets, it'll help when Yao can't play. Nice center rotation with Yao/Miller/Dampier/Hayes. With the Sixers basically telling their fans that they suck and won't be doing anything this year, it's time for the Rockets to make a play for Iguodala, who CAN take those last second shots at the end of games.

By the way Riza is ballin/leading the league in steals right. While Courtney Lee remains a useless scrub.
