Bernard Hopkins Calls MMA a Gay Porno Movie

In a recent article by Mark Vester from BoxingScene, light heavyweight boxer Bernard Hopkins recently stated that he felt MMA is much like a gay porno and felt grown men should not be watching it. Hopkins then went on to state that he would feel "suspect" [possibly gay] if he bought a ticket to watch MMA.

Bernard makes it clear in the article that he is from the hood and that is why he cannot understand why two grown men would, in his opinion, wrestle on the ground in panties, sweating with their nuts in their face.

Hopkins stated, "I'm not wrestling a guy with panties on and his nuts in my face, and they call that a sport."

Bernard then explains his logic to BoxingScene by saying he would understand it if 90 percent of MMA fight audience were women and it bothers him that groups of men would get together to watch MMA fights.

He then goes on to say he feels MMA fans have chains and masks in their closets. This is ironic for Hopkins himself is known for wearing chains and masks as part of his costume, dressing like a S&M executioner as he enters into the boxing ring.

Personally, I feel Hopkins should watch out what he says about MMA and his sexual remarks for several reasons. First off all, the sexual hate talk needs to stop—we all are sick of it, period. Second of all, it is well known that Hopkins is an ex-convict who, in his own biography, has admitted to "witnessing rapes".

Now I dont know about you, but if I happened to be at the strip club and there are lap dances going on then you better believe I am "witnessing lap dances". Yeah just "witnessing" sure wink wink. Thirdly, Hopkins is now a co-partner in one of the biggest boxing business companies on the planet, he cannot keep on saying things that will hurt the image and reputation of the company that he now co-owns.

Yes, Bernard must learn that by throwing down a Puerto Rican flag, saying, "I will never lose to a white boy!"

And yes, making hateful/hypocritical comments against sexuals and losing any MMA fan who would also consider themself to be a boxing fan as well are all not good business practices and again they hurt the image and reputation of the company that he co-owns.

Plus of course it is just plain ignorant.

Further more, if you ask any MMA fan who jumped the boxing ship to MMA a few years back why they jumped ship, I can almost guarantee you it was because they found boxing to be more and more boring.

But ask yourself, which fighters are they referring to when they say boxing is so boring that they left the boxing world to the MMA world? I will tell you who they are referring: It is none other than fighters like Bernard Hopkins.

When fight fans see a boxer like Hopkins fight in such a god awful boring manner where he illegally: holds, clinches, headbutts, turns his backs to his opponents, hits the testicles, and plain does not do much for the first half of his fights, they say enough is enough.

Especially when a 40-something-year old is still winning in this horribly boring manner, it sends the wrong message that boxing is lacking exciting talented fighters.

Look, I am a true fight fan. I love all fights whether they are boxing or MMA. But I like most fight fans want to see—an exciting fight period.

We want to see action, thrill, speed, power, ring generalship, technical skills, and yes, knock outs.

Submissions are good too, but come on!

We all can agree that it's all about the mighty KO. However, Hopkins is not known for having heavy hands or for stopping his opponents and this is one of the main reasons why he has never really won over the masses.

So what would Hopkins do in a real street fight when the fight inevitably ends up on the ground? Will he wish he paid more attention to those "gay porno movies" then?

Let's put Hopkins in the ring or octagon with an equal size MMA fighter and see what happens. There might be a chance that he makes the MMA fighter submit due to utter god awful boredom.

But this will be one "gay porno" that I will be at, for 90 percent of the audience will be female, remember!

A washed up boxer says he doesn't like MMA, how is that fascinating. I have to tell you, that part of what fuels boxers pissing on MMA is jealousy over it's success. MMA has completely replaced boxing on the PPV scale. Boxing only rakes it in these days on PPV when Manny or Floyd fights.. Also in terms of TV and endorsement more and more MMA fighters are becoming huge stars over boxers.. And i am a boxing fan, but that is just the truth..

I don't think jealousy has anything to do with it in regards to Bernard Hopkins. The guy made more in one fight (Delahoya) than someone like Rampage Jackson will probably make in his entire career. He's just an ignorant Dbag that thinks he's making a point.

There's jealousy and anger in general in the boxing community is my point. I like Boxing but still tons of boxers don't respect MMA even though they all picked Randy to beat the out of Toney in that circus fight they had.. Old fart promoters like Bob Arum are almost in denial about how big MMA has gotten. And old pros like B-Hop try to discredit it with dumb-ass comments like these..

I think a lot of boxers are hoping MMA is gonna just go away.. It's not happening. Boxing will always have a place in the world but in the US MMA has replaced it as the number 1 combat sport.. That gap is only gonna get wider.. And with the UFC expanding into new countries all the time, they will catch up to boxing there also..

I think everyone in here agreed when I said before, these days there's a mentality of boxing being the only true way of "fighting". I'm not sure if it's an American thing, a black American thing, or a westernized thing. There's nothing more pure than MMA. Whatever your instincts tell you to do, get the guy in clinch, take him down, or evade and just strike, you can do it. THAT'S true fighting
