The majority of people here are libertarian...Keep up!
I often like to lurk around this political section even though I can't keep up with technical political terms or anything like that. Are most people here liberal or conservative? I'm interested to know how people perceive the make up of ST and who actually responds.
I, personally, consider myself independent although both sides have accused me of being the other side in the past.
The majority of people here are libertarian...Keep up!
I'm sure everyone who offers up an answer to your question is going to have a different opinion on the political makeup here. But IMO I think it's a pretty even split here covering the entire political spectrum. Sure, you've got very distinct and vocal groups of lefty wingnuts and righty wingnuts bookending this forum. But in between them I think there's a solid group of strongly opinionated and intelligent people spanning both sides of the idealogical middle.
I disagree. Too many are hard left and authoritarian here.
When has Dan been right about anything? Certainly didn't see the other night coming!
You have to admit the lefty gots in here never shut the up and always have to have last word.
So many possible ways to respond to that....................
I disagree. Too many are extreme right and authoritarian here.
Wow...
We agree most here are not libertarian!
Depends. Everybody has a different definition of what being a libertarian is.
I agree you aren't.
I think this is pretty complete. Please read:
Libertarian Party 2010 Platform
Do you really think the anti-authoritarian nature of the platform would include the liberals here who want more and more regulation, taxing the rich more, political correctness, anti-capitalism, etc.
Not all liberals here want all those things. Just like not all right wingers here agree with all the GOP platform stated goals. And not all libertarians agree with all the stated goals on the platform above.
That's why your keep failing by generalizing.
To be called a libertarian, I would say you should agree with at least 80% of that platform. I would say I am one of the few who fit that category.
I would classify you as a extreme right authoritarian. Just opinion.
Then again, we got back to the silliness of the OP. Most people see themselves quite differently as other people see them.
Oh, please...
Explain that one.
This I agree with. However, people can be as ignorant as they want. I really doubt few who call themselves libertarian have read and understand the libertarian platform. You obviously don't understand it if you read it. I fit almost every category.
Well, suggesting shooting illegal immigrants on sight certainly places you in the authoritarian bandwagon. Not to mention the cuckoo bandwagon.
As far as being extreme right, maybe you should ask a black surgeon.
Ignorance is bliss, I guess.
Oh, I understand it. I simply can't call myself a libertarian. I agree with some of their points, and disagree with others. But I could say the same with the Dems platform, or the GOP stated goals.
Ultimately, most people have distinct opinions. Some lean left, some lean right, some try to stay in the center. Depends on a mul ude of factors.
That's why generalizations are incredibly useless when trying to classify people.
We have several articulate center/progressives, a few center/conservatives, A few people that just like to argue, and a couple like Boutons (who clearly wasn't breast fed) that are just bat crazy/angry.
I'm a Marxist Socialist....Maoist...
I'm generally far right on national politics and far left on local politics, at least economically. Socially, I'm about as "stay the out of our business" as you can get.
Bull . I'm not suggesting it be dictated as policy.
Your opinion.
I only pointed out a major flaw of quota systems.
Yes, you are.
wc getting owned, again.
Only in your dreams.
