The man is a legend. Not enough words to describe him anymore. Proud to have watched him play.
Agreed. After watching Tim's spectacular and totally dominating performance tonight in Phoenix I could not help but recall all of the times he had games like that throughout his historic, Hall Of Fame career. I thought about all of the rings and Finals MVP trophies and the regular season MVP's and everything else Tim has brought to this organization and I just sat in awe.

We are, I am, truly privileged to have enjoyed these Tim Duncan years for the Spurs and I am totally convinced that this 2011 team can contend for a le. And where does such a hope stem from? Tim Duncan of course.

And without a solitary doubt, Tim is a top five player in league history.

Gervin has like 23,500 pts and Duncan is at like 21,000 right now or close to those #s

not sure off the top of my head.
wtf #s was i looking at then
Not sure, but I'm going by the NBA.com. piece Spurs Brazil posted in the Duncan Forum after the Clippers game.

DesignatedT, you were still on the money with those numbers, and I'll be glad to back you up. If you count George Gervin's ABA numbers, technically he is still the Spurs' all-time leading scorer with 23,602 points. He is also the Spurs all-time leader in field goals (9,201) and field goal attempts (18,111).

You are now the #2 scoring player in Spurs NBA history after passing George Gervin's NBA points total tonight.
FIFY. Gervin also scored a couple thousand points for the Spurs while the team was part of the ABA, so the Spurs overall scoring record is still a few seasons away...

Enjoy it folks, these are the good old days. Getting to watch Tim while he is still one of the best and with other future retired number guys Manu and Tony (and class acts like McDyess). If I still lived in SA I'd be going to alot of games.

What an accomplishment, both astonishing and unsurprising. Day in and day out, he goes out there and makes it look relatively easy, relatively effortless. For as big a change as exists between his early days and now, he's still scoring at an incredibly high rate and playing with beautifully fundamentally sound ball. It's so easy to see the same high level of performance again and again and forget how rare it is.

What a pleasure and privilege to have this guy lift up our team and set the tone for them for so long. How spoiled we've been.

Why ‘Ice’ still matters in this town
    by Tim Griffin

...The announcement came along with the Spurs victory over Phoenix that Tim Duncan had scored his 20,710 career point, passing George Gervin for second place on the franchise’s all-time scoring list.

Of course, what ESPN, the Spurs or the NBA didn’t tell you are that those numbers only count those produced during Gervin’s NBA history. It’s like his playing carerer from 1972-76 never existed.

LOL @ Shawn Bradley several times....

But my all time favorite of Tim Duncan was the 3 ball in the playoffs against the Suns.

Great vid mate. You can just see that he was going to be one of the greatest. Modest, respectful, intelligent. Also just in those moments you can see the fantastic relationship Pop and TD would have over the years. The birth of a Legendary career right there

If you're not including Gervin's Spurs points in the ABA then Tim will be No. 2.

You can't exclude them honestly for some NBA/Stern guidelines of arrogance of superiority.

IMO, Ice is still No. 1.
