It's easy to say "oh it's a tough sport blah blah blah"" when we are sitting on our couches and the player's health is at stake.

I like the changes of the rules. There's been countless times where players could wrap up yet they get lazy and throw their helmet out there. Sure there will be the occasional one where the defender gets unlucky, but one fine is chump change to these guys and I'll take one of those instead of half the league getting their brains reduced to mush by the age of 50
Disagree, I think too many people here are being shortsighted about the issue. ESPN pretty much spoonfed everybody this bull after that ONE week of headshots. What people don't understand is that these hits are RARE, and players get concussions from a myriad of other hits. At first glance did anybody really see anything on that Austin Collie play today? It's a freak occurrence. Other players get concussions from their head banging against the turf after a tackle. If you play 10-15 years in the NFL you can consider yourself lucky NOT to suffer one. It's akin to playing in the NHL and never losing a tooth.

And does anybody really think the rules aren't gonna keep coming? Flag football brah, we're going to see it in our lifetime.

I agree that concussions are gonna happen but they will be GREATLY minimized by taking away that stupid helmet to helmet . It's completely avoidable. Anything helmet to helmet should be illegal, for the record I don't agree with the violent hit rule since they're inevitable with the speed of the game.

Does anybody else find disturbing the fact that commentators are arguing for about an hour on possible coaching candidates during a game in which the coach has yet to be fired.
Even the media has respect for Wade

EXACTLY. As far as the helmet-to-helmet calls, I'm in no way condoning them and they should be penalized/fined/suspended if found to be of malicious intent. Each hit should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis...But like Polamalu said (and this was the only thing he got right), Goodell should not have total autonomy and authority when it comes to levying fines and suspensions. it should be from a panel of former players, current players, coaches, and maybe even doctors. Repeat offenders get dealt with more severely. These hits are so rare that a blanket rule is not needed, and the above proposition should be enacted for such incidents.

That's pretty much the end of my rant about it, I'm just sick of seeing incidental penalties cost teams games
