    Sarah Palin's Alaska
    (Series -- TLC, Sun. Nov. 14, 9 p.m.)
    By BRIAN LOWRY

Produced by Mark Burnett Prods. Executive produces, Burnett, Sarah Palin, Maria Baltazzi; co-executive producers, Gregory Vanger, Alex Eastburg, David Eilenberg, Jim Roush; supervising producers, David Pritikin, Gia Galligani; producer, Mitc Tanen.

    Featuring: Sarah Palin, Todd Palin.

Whatever one thinks of Sarah Palin's political a en or inability to name preferred reading matter, she has exhibited a high IQ in exploiting reality TV and new media to advance her cause. So it is with "Sarah Palin's Alaska," a TLC series from producer Mark Burnett that functions as an eight-hour infomercial for the former Alaska governor, whose daughter is simultaneously championing the Palin name on "Dancing With the Stars." Part travel show, part family sitcom, the objective -- humanizing the once and potentially future Republican candidate while trading off her heavily polarizing appeal -- is as clear as the mountain air.

Remember when Discovery and TLC had decent shows about scientific discovery and engineering? Those networks are trash now with all their crappy reality shows.

Agreed, one has be selective, but there are some great nuggets in the TV pile.

TV shows what the dumbed down Americans wanna watch (actually, what advertisers want to pay for), and contribute to corporations dumbing down Americans.

    Nothing new, google "vast wasteland".

TV-watching dumbed-down Americans: the Repug, "Christian", tea bagger base.
