these are the exact type of games (and Rockets game) the Spurs would have lost last season, they are just finding ways to win games
The Spurs won a crap load of tight games in 2009 too, but got destroyed when they played a good team.

I like the way we are playing, I think this team is a lot better with more potential than the 2009 team, but we definitely got to start playing smarter.

The Bobcats couldn't play smart for a whole game. The Spurs couldn't play stupid for a whole game... but it looked like they were trying to.

The ting on you comment was a jab at some people here.

Spurs are doing a lot of things wrong, but they have done more right. I agree, their bad is terribly frustrating, but this is the NBA and you rarely are going to steam roll teams from start to finish.
Yeah fair enough. Spurs have been frustrating, but the good is better than the bad. Nice take.

The Spurs appear to be better and more talented, but they have only played 1 playoff team so far(maybe the Suns too) and lost that game..last year, they struggled mightily against good teams..

The next real test will be on the 14th, @ OKC..

I dont really think you can judge the Spurs against top teams yet until they have their rotations set....which could be in April.

Yeah, we still got a long way to go before saying we're one of the best teams. A long way to go.

I don't get how people can watch the Bobcats and say they are terrible? They aren't winning games right now, but they are a solid team.
Their results are crappy. I enjoyed watching the game.

Their athleticism necessitated that our newbies log minutes and contribute, and to their credit, they did.

I don't think Larry Brown suddenly sucks as a coach either, btw. I respect the Bobcats and I enjoyed the game.

this was a very good win and a great test for our team. Charlotte obviously came out fired up since they hadn't won a game in front of there fans yet, and tried everything to get one. I liked the way our team played in the 2nd half, and our bench is playing fantastic.

Yup. You can be happy about winning all you want, but unless you do it against good teams, it doesn't really matter.

Beating up and building up a nice record by beating up on the bad teams is good and all, but it does not bode well come playoff time if your record against the top teams is consistently bad.

I am happy with the Spurs. But there are some very alarming advanced (and basic) numbers that certainly have my attention.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a "win-loss" thing..I don't believe in moral victories, but playing the games vs. good teams can at least show us a few things about the Spurs..

These games vs. ty teams should be teaching the Spurs how to play together/setting the rotation/defensive chemistry..hopefully when they play the good teams, they'll have learned from these games vs. poor teams..

Another reason it's tough to judge the Spurs is that some of the players on the team are clearly ordered not to play too hard..Manu and Duncan seem to have orders to not go as hard in the paint, at least IMO..we'll see though, I'm looking forward to the OKC game..

For EVERY championship team in the last decade, outside of the 2006 Heat, the team that won the le had a good record vs. other playoff teams..

Spurs are very good. They obviously have a ton of room for improvement on both sides of the ball, but there are a lot of things good.

Good news is almost all of the bad can be corrected from within.

I just want to point out that a win's a win and the more of those we get the better off we're going to be when it becomes playoff time.

3 things i like about this game:

1- The Bench. Great game for Neil!! Clutch 3s.. Solid game by Anderson, Splitter and as usual, Dice.
    2- Manu Ginobili.
3- Richard Jefferson. He had his worst night shooting the ball, but he husttle on D, he grabbed rebounds and he hits a great jumper in clutch time. That's what your role is all about, help in the area the team needs, and don't get frustrated if a couple of jumpers don't fall..

On point 3 there Frankie I want to say that his teammates should continue to look for RJ when he is open and pass the ball even if he has missed a couple of shots.

is better to win all the games that we can right now and not worry later in the season trying to catch up to get a better seeding because someone might get hurt and start losing games and put more pressure in the team

Gritty win. I like it. We weren't playing well in the first half and found a way to take care of business. I like how this team is coming together!

Pretty much, this. With Manu (seemingly) following orders to take more shots from the outside and stay out of the paint, and both Duncan and Manu playing limited minutes it makes it hard to really compare the Spurs to the League's top teams.

The past few seasons have shown that Pop is fine with beating the poor/average teams and taking losses to the top teams if it allows him to rest Manu and Tim.

I guess manu is trying to protect his nose by not driving too much.

Not to be contrary, but the good news is that they have the personnel to correct the problems. Last year? We all knew Mason wasn't going to suddenly get right. We all knew Finley wasn't going to step up and play good defense. We knew Bogans wasn't under-achieving, he just wasn't that good. And we all knew how the Mahinmi story was going to end.

This year, I really think we're looking at guys with upside.
