At this point, Manus chances of being selected are probably better than Tims. Unfortunately that doesn't bode well for either player.
If the ASG were to take place tomorrow he would make it IMO, Paul, Kobe, Ellis, Williams and Manu. Those are the 5 guards that would make it right now.

Stephen Curry also has great stats:

21.7 ppg, 6.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 38% from 3 like Manu, 51.6% total FG...pretty similar, only slightly better.

Nash also averages 18.7 ppgs and 9 assists

Tyreke Evans averages 19 points, 5.7 assists, 5 rebounds

Kevin Martin also in the question

Russell Westbrook averages 22.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.9 assists

+Brandon Roy if he gets around his injury problems, we all know what he's capable of, great player.

....on top of the guys you named, and I may have forgotten one or two, this is only including western conference guards....I really think some people might not realize how deep the NBA is right now in terms of young talent. I'm not saying all of these guys deserve an all-star spot ahead of Manu, but a lot of them have more impressive statistics.

Back in 05, Manu's main compe ion for the ASG was Ray Allen to the best of my memory, and other players of equal or lesser value in terms of statistics, and these guys didn't average anything close to what the guys listed above are averaging. That season Manu only averaged 16 points per game, which is where he's been for much of his career. I'm not saying Manu isn't capable of more, but this gives you an idea of the differences I've noticed in only 5 years.

The NBA is loaded with stat-sheet stuffers compared to the early decade. Just take a look above for yourself, inevitably there's going to be plenty of "all-star caliber" players left off

Brandon Roy isn't playing that well right now. and Manu would probably be playing better than him anyway:

    his stats are crazy:

    22ppg 3rpg 5apg 2spg on 47.6 % from 2 and 39% from 3 89% from FT. he's also probably hitting 3 threes per game, i haven't checked on that though.

moreover he's been clutch, as he hit a game winning shot and a shot to send a game into overtime that resulted in a win.

on top of that the Spurs are 6-1.

the only guards that should be considered ahead of him in the West as of right now are Kobe, CP3, and Deron. and if that remains that case, he'll get in for sure. will he keep it up? there's no doubt he can, but his minutes will come down eventually to where they usually are. right now he's gettting 34 mpg.

It's pretty funny how a Spurs fan can talk trash on a player who was a big, irreplaceable part of 2 championships. Spurs wouldn't win a series without him...
yep just like no les after david robinson left the spurs and retired to huh

    and DAVID>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MANU

Did you not just see what I posted?

Curry has similar stats, but better. More assists, better FG%.

Westbrook has better stats all-around, more rebounds and assists.

Nash averages 3 points less, also 4 more assists, which outweigh that disparity.

And what are you even saying with Roy? I acknowledge he isn't playing his best, he has nagging injury problems, but who knows how the season will play out. You think Manu will keep it up the whole season? I'm not really sure, I could see it go either way, likewise the same for Roy. LOL, we both agree Roy isn't playing well, but he's still averaging 19 points. Once he starts shooting better and getting into a flow, you'll see his numbers go up.

You're blind if you think Manu "will get in for sure" if he keeps it up. Blind of the other players that are putting up better numbers.

Trust me, I'm probably a bigger Manu fan that you and I would love for him to keep it up and maybe get selected to the ASG. But at the same time, I'm aware that there's A LOT of players that put up great numbers, compared to a few years back. I also won't give two s if he doesn't get selected because the ASG isn't a measure of the best players in the league. It's just an ASG.

LOL wtf does that first part even mean? If you aren't mentally re ed, which would be fine, you'd be the internet's all-time greatest troll. It'd be a serious accomplishment...over 7,8 years or however long you've been here of complete nonsense.

    It'd also be extremely pathetic.

LOL, oh yeah thanks for letting me know David>Manu

Ducks, did you know that Lebron>Zaza Pechulia ???

    Duncan>Nate Robinson

    Jordan>Ray Allen

    Kobe>Jordan Farmar

    Dwight Howard>Samuel Dalembert

Manu is playing great but honestly i don't see him keeping up this level of play with the minutes he's logging right now. History suggests that he will slow down a bit over the course of the season.

Westbrook shouldn't. OKC has no business losing to the Jazz by 20, the Clippers, and getting blown out at home by Boston. if they keep going that route and the Spurs keep it up, i don't see houw he could get in over Manu.

after looking up Monte Ellis' and Curry's stats, and the way the team is doing i guess they're actually really good. i hadn't heard or seen the team since last year, but they've improved. i thnk it's more than stats though. Manu's won 2 games for SA. like i said, i haven't seen GS this year, so maybe Monte and Curry have been just as clutch. but if they haven't, i think Manu's 2 clutch shots outweigh the statistical differences, which really aren't that big anyway.

Duncan's been voted in by the fans for a long time; I don't see that changing this year. It's up to us to stuff the ballot boxes! Vote early and vote often!

After looking at the numbers Nowitzki and Gasol are putting up I think it might be difficult for Duncan to get another start in the ASG.

na nowitzki always put up numbers, duncan is just the more popular player which is why he is the one that gets voted in by the fans
