No...and neither would you or anyone else...because you are about 3.5 million dollars away from a trade that could actually happen in real life.

Last time Scola and Splitter played each other,
in-or-out game in the World Cup

    Scola was:
    39 points
    9 rebounds
    3 assists
    2 steals
    14-20 FG
    8-9 FT

    Splitter was:
    10 points
    5 rebounds
    2 assists
    1 block
    2-5 FG
    6-8 FT

Scola is a proven NBA starter and a potential All Star.
He has missed 0 (ZERO) games, so far in his NBA career.
Currently averaging 22.7 and 11.4 in 35 mpg.

Blair has no ACLs; after a promising rookie season, he is playing poorly.
Splitter is promising, but has already missed the entire training camp with an injury (stuff already seen in Spain) and the first 2 games.

It's certainty now vs potential future. Barring injuries.

I thought the majority of Spurs fans wanted to see a fifth le before the Duncan era is definitely gone.

    negative

Splitter is younger, fresher and longer. You don't trade a mobile 7 footer if you wanna compete with the lakers.

Blair + Bonner I would do.

I'll trade Bonner for a ban on idiots who can't let the Scola thing go already.

Could someone give me some insight as to why we are still talking about this? We might as well be talking about trading RJ for LeBron.

why is scola talked about so much; he doesn't even play for the spurs, and he isn't going to be playing for the spurs in the near future?

Blair and Bonner perhaps. Splitter still has yet to show what his NBA game is all about.

OP is a fan of reversed logic

Why would we trade 6-1 for 1-7

Again, this thread is a great example of people thinking that if you just assemble a bunch of guys with awesome stats, you have an awesome team.

You need pieces that actually compliment each other skills-wise. I hate that we traded Scola. He'd be awesome on this team right now, and if you're a team starting from scratch, he's a much better choice than Splitter or Blair. He's a legit first option in the post on about half the teams in this league. That's how good he is on offense.

But, as many have pointed out, Splitter probably compliments are current pieces better than Scola would. We have scorers. Tim, Tony Manu. RJ, Neal, , even Dice and Bonner are, at this point, better as offensive weapons than they are on defense.

We need someone who is the opposite, and who impacts the game without the ball in his hands. That's why Bowen was so valuable for so long. Was Vince Carter or Rashard Lewis or even a guy like Michael Redd (before he got all jacked) a better player than Bruce? Definitely. But I don't know if we win our les with one of those guys instead of Bowen on our team. It's about complimentary players, and I while I think Scola is straight up awesome overall, I'd rather have a mobile, long defender like Splitter on THIS team.

Do you see me posting, fawning or pining for Luis Scola anywhere? No.

He's still not coming back. Still NO to the trade idea

I'm not saying I would do it or not, but I think people are seriously underestimating how good a Duncan-Scola Frontcourt would be. Especially if we still have Dice coming off the Bench.
