Speaking of similar shows, I guess Step by Step is more like the Brady Bunch than either of these two shows if you think about it.

Well I mean as in today. Al was definitely a tomboy in Step by Step and was not attractive to the masturbating tweener in the early to mid 90s. Who knew the tomboy would turn out so hot compared to the brunette and blonde sisters.

But if we're talking about back in the day, Topanga was definitely up there.

The real difference is that Family Matters was occasionally funny and Full House was not.

How about Wonder Years versus Everybody Hates Chris? Same family make up (dad, mom, 2 sons, 1 daughter), a nerdy best friend, and the almost attainable girlfriend, narrated by the central character as an adult.

One was poignant, the other one hilarious! I loved them both.

Who has the edge in the trainwreck department? It's quality versus quan y on this one. FH had the Olsen twins, who got insanely rich and did coke, plus the middle kid ended up hooked on meth, and you can throw in Saget's drug problems (which he spun into gold down the line) in there too. IIRC the youngest girl on Family Matters ended up doing porn and was on Dr. Drew's celebrity rehab thing on VH1.
