Whats with this Utah-Man love with Barkley. Every years he talks about his love for this team, and yet every year they end up fizzling out.![]()
NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley joined the Galloway and Company radio show on KESN-FM Wednesday. The opinionated TNT NBA analyst spoke about where the Mavs rank in the Western Conference.
Here are the highlights.
True or false if Tyson Chandler remains healthy the Mavericks will beat the Lakers in the playoffs:
"Not a chance in the world, bro. The Lakers are the best team in the NBA. I think the Lakers are the best, Utah's the second best and it's a toss up between Dallas and San Antonio for the third and fourth best teams in the NBA."
On the Mavericks being better than San Antonio:
"I will give you that. I like the Mavs better than San Antonio, but that's a good, good series right there. They got to get the Spurs back for upsetting them in the playoffs last year."
On the Mavs being able to advance in the playoffs with a healthy Tyson Chandler:
"Oh yeah, they're going to do that. I like their team a lot. I don't think that they can beat the Lakers, but they're arguably the second or third best team in the West. I like Utah. I love Al Jefferson. Other than LeBron James , he was the second best pickup this off-season. I really can't judge Utah until they get Mehmet Okur back, but I think the Mavs are right there with Utah as the second or third best team in the West."

He mentions Dallas and San Antonio before Boston for ranks 3/4 in the entire NBA (not just western conference)? Joke assessment.
What does Barkley know anyway? He's drunk half the time...![]()
lol Utah...I still don't get it...That's like when everyone jerked off on the Rockets before the start of the season.
charles barkley is just doing what destiny has him do remember everytime the spurs win they do so under the radar and when people are doubting them
The Lakers were very lucky, and they also got favored in the 2010 finals:
- Celtics starting center got injured too early which ruined the game 6 for the Celtics. He was out for game 7 too.
- Ray Allen had his son in hospital during the finals
- HCA
- double FT attempts in game 7
Still, game 7 was close.
With all and HCA, it would have been over in 6 games with Perkins and Allen better concentrated. Or in 7 - guaranteed.
How are they the best team in the NBA is very difficult to understand.
We'll see how that holds out....
he's probably high on utah and dallas like is with teh lakers cause they are doing very well with missing pieces. dallas doesnt even have roddy and utah is missing okur. the spurs are healthy
Yea, but isn't Okur done for the year?
LA runs a starting five that are all older than 30. Their bench is overblown. They might be the best team in the west, they might not be. That is why you play the game. This Spurs team is as good a team we have seen in 3 years. I will always give a healthy Spurs team a shot.
Nobody on the Spurs' roster can guard Dirk. Mavs field bigger players than the Spurs. Jet, barea and Kidd becomes 60% 3pt shooters against the Spurs.
Spurs have heart and that is something the Mavs lack.
And George Hill lights up like a kid on Christmas when he sees the Mavs in the playoffs. He made them his personal in the playoffs. I don't see why that would change. Our guards are much better than theirs.
San Antonio=New Orleans > Dallas > Utah
San Antonio > Dallas > Utah > New Orleans
TBH.
parker>kidd
ginobli>stephenson
jeferson>butler
blair<novitzki
timmeh>chandler
spurs dominated mavs in the playoffs
spurs got so much better, while mavs stayed the same more or less
i dont see how mavs are better
now charles thinks kobe is top 5 in the nba, and after long delibration decided to put kareem @ 5 and kobe @ 6.
of course you dont, grey-named spurfan
LMAO spurs
While I don't necessarily agree with all of his points, grey-named spurfan > grey-named mavfan.
Mavs completely failed in the offseason while the Spurs got some youth who have a lot of confidence. If these two teams meet in the playoffs, I don't see Dallas having a prayer.
crofl 0 rings
lol mavs
Mavericks do the every year. They amaze everybody in the regular season, and they flop in the 1st round. It's been like that for a majority of the past couple years. And besides, most of the stuff Charles Barkley says never even happens......
You still crying over the Spurs beating the Mavericks 3-1 in the first round?
People are underating the Hornets, they will remain good all season long. Paul is a top 3 player in the league.
*in nawlins drawl*
"that guys a knuckleheeeeeead"
