nothin wrong with the master race
move along sir
Evidence:
- I have never seen one non-Arian-looking person in a VW commercial and they always talk about how awesome GERMAN engineering is and such
- Everyone who drives a bug drives like a maniac on the autobahn
- Engines in the back is just ass backwards

Other than the fact that the Nazis were not socialist. Not to mention that I did own a Jetta once. And other than the Beetle, none of the other VW's have engines in the back. The Jetta was a nice care. Had some nice pickup for such a small engine.
Maybe I feel that way because my great grandma was a pure German and it shows with my kids.
I drive a Beetle. Engine's in the front.
Lamborghini drivers must be fascists.
You are correct. Nazi's were national socialists.
They were in no shape or form socialist. NAZIs were right wing while Socialist are left wing. Communist are extreme socialists.
Well then, that solves that dilemma. No front engines.
I disagree.

I love my Jetta. Nathan Explosion is correct. It has amazing pick-up. I want to cry every time i drive someone else's compact car because I can't go nearly as fast as I do in the Jetta.
And fascist..no. Socialist...perhaps. Depends on the day.
That little 1.8 putting out 180 horses was nice for a small car. I miss the leather seats and sunroof though, especially on cool nights like tonight.
Hitler was quoted with "Communism and Naziism are not that far apart"
Hiter was a raging communist.
This thread, in which the nuances of front, mid and rear engine are lost on most of you.
Also, Christ, the 'engine in the back' thing was in reference to the old beetles. Come on, y'all!
edit: And come on, it was the "National Socialist German Workers' Party". You gotta give them some socialism cred.![]()
You go far enough to either side and you pretty much end up coming back round the other side. That's what he meant.
Fascism and Marxism (true communism) are different. In actual practice, Stalin and Hitler were pretty much the same person.
VW buyin up alot car makers lately
i wouldnt be surprised if they swoop up on some GM IPO
The Jetta TDI will remain the mileage and range champion, as will any of the 4-cyl diesels if they every get offered in USA, vs all the hybrids and electrics for years to come. And no multi-$K batteries to replace after a couple of years.
Checking the Jetta TDI forums finds lots of people claiming 50 mpg highway.
I'd love to get away from carbon fuel, but there's not enough lithium on the planet.
There isn't a VW in production that has an engine in the back. The last one was the old Beetle.
Actually I can't think of any current car that has a back mounted engine since technically the Lamborghinis, Ferraris and similar have central mounted engines.
I know I'm nitpicking...
P.S. Do you have a flower in the little vase on the dashboard?
I can't do leather. One of my co-workers has an '08 with leather and the sunroof and I give her crap al lthe time for the leather. It gets so hot...even now. The sunroof though, I adore. I never close the little cloth thing on it. I feel closed in if it's closed.
Yes my Toyota MR2 Spyder has the mid enigine but I always call it a rear engine; probably because it is more descriptive.
Yeah, I know, but I was responding in the same unfounded generalities as presented within the OP.
Nope. I've had lots of things in there over the years, and it currently holds the bluetooth thingy that I never use, but I've never put a flower in the bud vase.
Nathan, regulatin' in this thread.
I'm strangely disappointed in this news...
For me it's a little like the iPad. I love the idea even when there's no real practical value to it![]()
Considering how many things I have decorating the huge dash board (formerly an army of dancing hula girls, currently a collection of lady bugs and devil duckies), a flower would just be overkill.
I'm consistently surprised by how many New Beetles I see that do have a flower in there, though. I think they actually came with a matching flower already in the vase during the first few years of production, but I bought mine used.
OK you've redeemed yourself!
I always loved the irony of the original beetle (and it's spin off van) that started as a symbol of the industrial might of the Nazis and ended up as an icon of the flower power movement.
Might want to check your history.
Pic please![]()
