Spurs have been playing great and we cant complain about the loss today.Tony and RJ has bad games. If one had his normal game we win.
Anyways i'm a little concerned about timmy.I understand pop trying to rest him this year but when he's in the game he has to be involved in offense.

Last year his FGA was 14, this year its only 11.we've seen games where he only attempts 9.guards should look for him.in a bg game like today he shouldve been the main focus of the offense when Mahimi was in.by trying to rest timmy, pop is killing manu.manu is playing way too much and his conditioning is not great.he gets tired faster.

pop is great he knows what he's doing.

Also i'm sick of these stupid threads about timmy being dead.he's still very effecient but he isnt used as much probably to minimize the wear on his body.also if we have a big that can rebound and block up by tim that would help him with rebounding and defending.bonner is good on offense but splitter must play more.enough with these limited minutes.

His PPG has been down recently, and he hasn't been contributing points and rebounds compared to last year, but I think he's just on a rough start so far.

He's Tim Duncan. He'll be back to normal soon.

Its one thing to reduce his minutes, i'm with that...it is a whole other thing to completely change his role when he is on the court. The only thing he is being used for consistently are his screens. The few chances he does get to actually operate down on the block he looks uncertain and out of rhythm.

His offense needs continuity; he has no idea when his next touch will be so when it actually occurs hes rarely in his sweet spots. To compound the problem he is admittedly missing a lot of chippies that are going in and out of the bucket, that's just part of the game and I have no doubt he'll have better luck in that regard.

Like I said, I realize that Pop is making an effort to develop the offense (and offense hasn't exactly been an issue on the whole so far) but having Timmy at his double team demanding/foul drawing best is essential for any kind of serious playoff run. Manu and Tony are playing great, but neither of them can draw a consistent double team; Tim on the other hand is still capable of that when he is in rhythm and clicking.

Seeing Duncan and Splitter on the floor at the same time would be a treat as well...just saying...

He can still be an effective pick and roll player. I think the big men passing between Duncan and Blair has been excellent. I don't understand why Popovich is going away from this and running back into the arms of Boner.

As a post player, on the other hand, Tim's been pretty ineffective. I'd be interested to see his field goal percentage when he makes a post move. I'm guessing that it's below 50%. He's been outplayed by nearly every big man he's faced so far.

Defending, rebounding, pick and roll, and interior passing are where his talents should be focused. This new roll has paid tremendous dividends for the team. Unfortunately, based on the Mavericks game, it looks like Popovich is returning to his old, pathetic ways.

Agreed. I don't know what people expect offensively out of a big (they need the ball brought to them), who's playing under 30 mpg and taking less than 12 field goals per game.

This team practically refuses to throw him the ball in the post. Particularly Ginobili. It's like they have no confidence in going to him down there. The rare times he touches the ball now, it's on the receiving end of a pick-and-roll or it's late in the clock and he's forced to throw up a low percentage shot.

They don't even bother trying to establish him early, let him establish any sort of rhythm, think if he hasn't had a touch in awhile, etc. It's like watching the Lakers (before this season) with Gasol.

I partially blame Duncan for this, though. He's ceded too much control to the guards. I'm fine with them carrying the offense most games, but when this team plays elite or near elite teams and/or Duncan has a clearly advantageous match-up, they need to play through him more. And he needs to demand it more in those situations.
