I really have no problem with Bonner! if he continues to make threes then I say leave him the whole game!
I'm all for waiving Bonner.
I really have no problem with Bonner! if he continues to make threes then I say leave him the whole game!
I'm not disagreeing that it would be nice. It would be nice also if he could block shots, or be a rebounding monster. But he is what he is. He's not ever going to be an enforcer. It's just not in him.
http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursna...r-to-remember/...(Bonner) has made 58.3 percent of his 3-point shots (21 for 35) in the nine games he has played but only 12.5 percent (3 for 24) from closer in.
...“It’s frustrating, just because it’s something I work hard on pretty much every day since last season,” Bonner said of his mid-range game after going 1 for 6 in Friday’s loss. “I just haven’t gotten it going yet.”
...“It was a big part of my offensive game last year,” he said. “For whatever reason, I’ve been struggling finishing those in-between floaters this year. I don’t think it’s from lack of skill or practice. I’ve been working hard on it every day.”
Meanwhile...
http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursna...r-to-remember/Splitter stays ready: Center Tiago Splitter logged a productive eight minutes and 17 seconds in the first half of Friday’s game, then watched the entire second half from the bench.
The 25-year-old rookie said he remains ready to contribute, no matter how much time Popovich deems appropriate.
“Well, I’m ready,” Splitter said. “I’m trying to set my mind to be ready every time the coach wants me to play four seconds or 40 minutes. I want to be ready to do it, and I’m glad to have the minutes.
“It’s a new challenge for me. I’m the new guy right here, and we have a lot of guys who have a lot of experience and know how to play here. I’m glad to have minutes and to show my basketball.”
2 bigs playing lockdown defense and mixing it up in the middle on offense makes guards and forwards shoot better....bonner doesn't do any of that ....he is a 6 10 mugsy bogues....wtf....
Good to see Splitter is taking the ups and downs in stride. I'm sure he is just as confused as the rest of us as to why Bonner plays as much as he does.
Maybe Splitter should be sent to Austin to get in better shape.
Why not, it's not like he's a big part of the rotation.
If, as some posters think, Splitter doesn't have his wind right now and therefore can't play, or can't play big minutes period, or is being saved for the future . . .
Why not send him to Austin?
It happens in MLB. Maybe Splitter should go to Austin where he can get a good span of minutes against inferior compe ion. He can work back at his own pace to get back in shape and the Spurs can monitor his health and make certain his strained tendon is no problem.
And maybe he can work on his three-point game so he can spread the floor and cut down on his turnovers.
Is Matt Bonner going to be the new Finely??
same routine every year.
Boner hits some 3's early in the regular season.
idiots here defend his honor.
playoffs come and he gets abused hilariously on defense and puts up 5, 2, 0.5, and 0,0,0 per game and we lose
At this point it's a Pop issue and not a Bonner issue. It's up to Pop to play him and see if his shot is falling, and if not then bench for the game and go with someone else.
Spurs are showcasing Bonner to trade him when he will be eligible on December 15th.
There no other logical explanations why Pop, who is recognized as one of the best coach in the NBA, gives that much minutes to Bonner and that few to Splitter.
One can always dream...
ain't that the truth
The Bonner-gasm this board goes through after regular season threes or worse, wins that aren't really due to Bonner are sweaty, noisy and embarrassing.
One example is that supposed game that Bonner won for the Spurs against the Bulls. So if my memory is correct in the first half the Spurs are flat, miss easy shots near the rim and everything goes wrong, to the point that Manu misses two free throws at the end of the 1st half. Pop chews them out, and they come out and win. Just because Bonner is starting the 2nd half the Board's Bonnerlovers go crazy in love. Even though Sidney Green could have started the 2nd half and the Spurs were probably going to go on a run, but alas.
Spurs liked Bonner over Scola.
I guess we can't be too shocked that the Spurs like Bonner over another ACB MVP who can't spread the floor or go an entire season without a turnover.

Well, unlike Scola and Bonner, Splitter isn't a choker who plays no defense.
Seems like i have to say this every game but again when bonner is not making 3's he is useless.....
Chris Quinn got more minutes than Blair. you Popo .
Matt Bonner unable to box out 6'5 Marco Belinelli for a defensive rebound is the perfect example of what kind of player he is.
And I thought Billups and Kidd jumping over his back for boards was bad, but Jesus Christ....
bonner is horrible on defense.....
Well he certainly does, but its hard to fault him against Carney. Not exactly a fair match up..
he is missing wide open 3's now still no splitter.... step it up bonner
If binner is not hitting 3's why does he get so much playing time? he cant rebound he can't play defense ... why let splitter just sit there if bonner is doing horrible
