CBS developing S.A.-set drama from ‘CSI’ creator

Hang on tight to your saddles! At long last, a new network series in development – from the creator of “CSI,” no less – actually is set in San Antonio.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is planning a neo-Western crime drama from executive producer Anthony Zuiker (in photo at right) called “Desperado.” It focuses on a group of lawmen who enact cowboy-style justice in modern times on criminals in San Antonio.

The publication compared it to “Justified” on FX, which is based on an Elmore Leonard character and stars Timothy Olyphant.

No word on casting for the CBS pilot yet.

What I'm wondering is how many times they'll use establishing shots of the Alamo to remind the audience it's in San Antonio? What else is there that rest of the country immediately would recognize? Maybe some Spurs signs, but there's probably licensing issues there. I fear that most of the nation is stupid enough that showing the Tower of the Americas will just leave the audience thinking the show is in Seattle. That pretty much just leaves The Boots or starting the show by screaming out, "The stars at night are big and bright!" and having a street full of people stop and finish the line.

maybe they can use real life san antonio crimes as their storylines.

you know, like a mexican couple leaves their baby in the street to nearly get hit by a via bus or a bunch of teenagers dress up like wolves and vampires and call themselves a wolfpack or any of the other you see everyday on mysa.com

if its in San Antonio then it will get canceled right away. To the outside world, San Antonio is not that much of an exciting place.
