Our fan support is a joke and as much as I love the Hornets, they deserve better than the pathetic ass support the people in this city and state provides them. (For those Hornets fans who actually do go to the games, major props to you!) However New Orleans always likes to brag about how "wonderful" of a sports town they are yet they can't even come anywhere near selling out the 2nd smallest arena in the NBA on a nightly basis. (17,100ish is considered a sellout whenever the arena can hold over 18,500). Obviously when teams are doing poorly you can expect attendance to be down, but even whenever the Hornets started the season 8-0 the attendance was awful. We have only sold out 1 game this season and that was the Heat game which attracted thousands of new N.O. Heat fans.

The Spurs game Sunday was the biggest embarrassment of the season so far. It was a Sunday afternoon, the Saints weren't playing, LSU wasn't playing, and the Spurs were in town fighting the Hornets for 1st place in the division ... and they could only get 12,400 fans to show up. The truth is that New Orleans is a Saints town and Saints town only. The cheapskate, front running fans around here only support the Hornets if ... 1. Tickets are free ... or 2. They are on a big winning streak and making national headlines. The fan support was getting better and better every season, but now has fallen down worse than I have ever seen it. The funniest thing is that most people around here ignore these facts and make pathetic excuses for why the attendance is horrible. For each and every lame excuse they use, I can easily shoot them down and expose their excuses as pure nonsense. To give a few examples I will show you some Hornets fans excuses along with my response ...

Blaming it on ticket prices ...

My response: wow really? the Hornets offer some of the cheapest tickets available in the NBA next to maybe only the New Jersey Nets! They are always running specials and you can purchase "nose bleed" tickets for as little as $7-10 each. what more do these idiots want? someone to pay them to go?

Blaming it by comparing to a ty team's attendance and a concert in town

My response: first of all the poster lied. Philly had 11k show up for that game. however with that said did he really just try and compare the attendance of ty 4-13 76ers team to the Hornets who were balling their ass off at the time? ah ok so I guess since Philly had a bad attendance night, then that justifies the Hornets for only having 12,000 show up to watch them play the Spurs??? oh and the VooDoo fest concert was in town too! lol idiots

All time low excuse, blaming it on HIGH SCHOOL football!

My response: sons this one by far takes the cake for the most pathetic, yet laughable excuse. I hope this person isn't being dead serious, but unfortunately I believe he is so according to him high school football is the reason why the attendance is bad. My god ...

14,000 is good enough for this person

    My response: Ignorance is bliss

Finally someone who sees the light

    My response: Thank you

sons this is the kind of crap that we have to deal with. I have been banned from many Hornets message boards for speaking out against this type of nonsense and trying to encourage people to support the team. Instead everyone just wants to jump on and off the bandwagon whenever it is convenient for them. The truth is that people in this state are just downright cheap, front running bas s. Yea the support for LSU and the Saints has always been solid, but just because the Saints are playing is NOT a legit excuse for Hornets attendance to be piss poor like many of them try to convince as the reason. As if no other NBA team in the country has to deal with other professional sports going on in their city? sorry sons I know this was long, but needed to expose these cheapskates.

Couldn't agree with you more BR. I even bought 2 extra tickets for the Hornets-Spurs game and gave them to friends just to help our horrible attendance.

son if the Hornets had a record of like 3-14 right now then that figure would be expected, but they have been a fun and exciting team to watch (other than the last week and a half of course). Like I said above, sports "fans" in this state are cheapskate front runners. The Hornets have only had one decent turnout for home games this season and that was Miami ... well never mind because apparently 14,000 is a good enough turnout for some of the people I showed you above lol. Plain and simple there is no reason we can't be putting 16,000-18,000 in the seats every night. The metro area of New Orleans is large enough to support the team and the majority of tickets are more than affordable.

    It's pretty sad nonetheless BR.

The Hornets are actually playing well enough to garner a better attendance, the fact that they don't get attention from their locals is depressing...even for me, a fan of another team.

You guys should have pursued Melo.

Am I the only on disturbed that BR had too much time on his hands to put this little presentation together? Well with that said, the city of NO. They really don't deserve a professional sports team at all. Bunch of fair weather riders.

I agree. I have Saints season tickets, but tbh I have more fun at Hornets games (other than last year's SB run).

Economically the city of NO is probably at a disadvantage BR.

You should also take that into account.

oh boo hoo hoo lets keep feeling sorry for New Orleans and continue blaming everything on Katrina ... 20 years from now people will still be using it as an excuse for anything negative. I'm from this area and sick of it.
