The man was a legend plain and simple. When he was the umpire in Naked Gun, that had to be some of the funniest I have ever seen.

In the NLCS when the umpire called the third strike to send the Giants to the series, his call reminded me of Leslie Nielsen.

In 1956, Forbidden Planet was in color, other sci-fi were b/2, and even into the 60s, main stream films were b/w.

For 1956, with no digital video, the special effects were mesmerizing.
