Honestly, NBA teams themselves aren't really attractive. It takes alot of money to run a team, and most franchises that compete lose money. Not many teams have NBA ready arenas. Thats why NOLA got the team in the first place. They had an arena. Same with Jokelahoma City. KC has an arena and Seattle doesn't. Seattle won't get a team until they get an agreement on an arena and that won't happen any time soon. Probably never until the economy picks up.

Not surprised. Someone told me that half of the metro area can't even watch the games. BR, is it true that a lot of the games don't ever air in the NO at all lol? What kinda sh*t is that. Bad marketing on the hornets organization.

It is true. Due to cable company conflicts, areas north of New Orleans can't watch the team on TV. Same thing with people in the mississippi and alabama gulf coast.

but son Seattle only has a 3rd rate, cheap ass arena that wouldn't even be suitable for arena football right now. Kansas City has a nice, new arena.

Sons, I hope they don't relocate. That city needs to be propped up. They need someone they can cheer for (*except on Mon-Sun from 12:00 am - 11:49 pm).

son tonight was the first of 13 home games that the attendance benchmark is in place. If the Hornets don't average 14,200ish fans at the end of those 13 games, then they can opt out of their lease with the arena and state in March of 2011. again tonight was the first game and they fell about 3,400 under the minimum ... oh and the Knicks come to town Friday LOL

You guys can have the Clippers if the Hornets leave. Jesus ver. 2.0 in the halfie Griffin and Eric Gordon would be a good replacement. With the Lakers on a Clipperesque losing streak, they can just switch unis...

sons I can also assure you that realistically there were only about 8,000 people in the arena tonight. It was truly pathetic. You have to remember that the attendance number is "paid attendance" and also includes season ticket holders even if they don't show up. Probably only about 75% of season ticket holders show up on a regular basis.

"If the Hornets do not average crowds of at least 14,213 for the next 13 games at the New Orleans Arena, the franchise can opt out of its current lease agreement with the state, according to Doug Thornton, vice president of SMG, the company that manages the Arena and the Superdome."

    How sad.

well son just to give you some of the most popular excuses from our cheapskate, pathetic, front running "fans" ...

    - Its still NFL and college football season

    - high school football playoffs are going on

    - a portion of the northshore can't watch the Hornets on TV due to Direct TV and an exclusive contract in the area. (keep in mind the northshore is only 200,000 people whenever the entire New Orleans metropolitan area is 1.3 million so they still have over 1.1 million people around New Orleans plus Baton Rouge, etc. to work with)

    - Tickets are too expensive, yet are the cheapest in the entire NBA next to only MAYBE New Jersey.

The economy, its bad up here. I cant imagine how bad it is down there. Its kinda unfair if the Hornets do relocate during these times. I know its not up me, but I would rather them stay until the economy down there recovers a little bit, but that may not happen. Its unfortunate, I don't want to see the NBA take another NBA franchise to another irrelevant city like a Kansas City or Louisville, Kentucky. I would rather them just stay in New Orleans and wait out the recession.

If the NO fans had 3/4 the passion as the Hornet fans on this site...the team would sell out no doubt.

sons if the Hornets keep playing decent and make a run in the playoffs then I'm sure attendance will pickup, but that's a lot of IF'S ... the team deserves better than this crap every year though. especially this season with a winning team on the floor. the best the Hornets attendance average has ever been was after the 07-08 season when it was 16,900 ... ahhh those were the days! lolz

I see what you mean...but how can the fans afford to sell out the Superdome if they can't afford to see the Hornets and one of the top PGs in the game play? I'm guessing like the Lakers did...the Saints raised their ticket prices because of their Super Bowl victory. The economy sucks in LA...Yet Staples is selling out...man I ink NO should always have a team in the major sports. It is a sports passionate locale.

EXACTLY ... the Saints put over 70,000 in the Dome every game

son the fact of the matter is people around here are just front running, cheapskate bas s. The Saints have always had solid fan support that can't be denied, but nothing near what they have received over the last 4 years. Same thing with LSU football. It always had solid fan support, but until Nick Saban it was never like it is now where people are truly fanatic about it. Whenever the Hornets had an exciting season in 07-08 the fan support went through the roof and they sold out like their final 16 home games. The fan support continued to be solid the next season, but midway through after all the injuries it went back down to normal. Now the Hornets still have a winning team on the floor and started the season 8-0, yet the fan support is comparable to any WNBA team.

It really is pathetic seeing some people spend $100 per ticket to see the Saints, but then act like a $15 ticket to see the Hornets is too much money. The main thing that annoys me though is the stupid ass excuses that some of them come up with.
