    - CST the local network that broadcast Hornets games has cut back tremendously on the amount of games they will be airing. Usually CST will broadcast all home and away games other than the ones that are scheduled to be on national television. However this year they have already not aired at least 3 games and will not be airing tonight's HOME GAME against the Knicks. My best guess is that due to the lack of corporate sponsorship this season they are cutting corners at every turn.

    - Some season ticket representatives (mine included) sent out emails this week saying their farewells and that they are moving on to other endeavors. My guess is that the Hornets organization is already giving employees a fair enough notice that they will either be in Kansas City or Seattle next season and wants to give them enough time to find a new job or prepare to move with them.

    - George Shinn hasn't been to a single game yet this season. Gary Chouest has been at the games, but no one even knows who the owner of this team is right now. My guess is that Shinn has been holding out so that he can sell/move the team to someone else so that he doesn't appear to be the bad guy again like he was in Charlotte.

KC might be an interesting location. It sucks any time a team moves, but the population shrinkage in NO probably makes a move inevitable.

son the actual city of New Orleans has never been the real financial fan support of their teams anyway aside from Metairie. Its always been the surrounding cities in the metropolitan area (Mandeville, Slidell, Covington, Madisonville, and even Baton Rouge and Lafayette) that has been the majority of the fan support who actually BUYS TICKETS. The Saints have no problems packing over 70,000 into the Dome each and every game, but people just don't want to support basketball around here.

son honestly I really don't know. I don't know if I would want to support the team after leaving here, but at the end of the day they did everything they could to make it work here. It's not their fault the sports "fans" here are front running cheapskates. I may lose interest in the NBA all together if it happens. who knows I could become a free agent and take my talents elsewhere.

It's quite difficult for an European like me to imagine my team moving for another city. The franchise mechanism is a ing bad one IMO... with that sytem you have the jazz in Utah !

sons I know the sexy attraction is Seattle, but you have to understand they still don't have a NBA-ready arena. That arena in Seattle is one of the reasons why the Sonics were moved. I have been there and for anyone who has also been there as well can tell you it is a dump. Which is odd because Seattle is such a beautiful city yet they have this 3rd rate, outdated sports arena.

Kansas City has a brand new arena (maybe 2 years old) and has been requesting an NBA team for quite a while now. Missouri is also more than willing to cut a NBA team some sweetheart deals too just to get them into the state. The city of Seattle on the other hand won't do a damn thing to help get a team there.

They should move. It's sad, but the NOLA area just can't support more than the Saints -- and they can't even support them without direct and indirect subsidies from the state.

Hopefully the state stops pumping so much money into sports just because it thinks that somehow puts it on the same level as other more affluent states. That especially goes for college sports. I wouldn't be surprised to see half the Louisiana D1 programs move down in the next decade. There just isn't enough money.

True, Seattle got buyer's remorse after blowing so much money on the football and baseball stadiums. They'll s out for a new arena at some point, but not for a few years. I wonder if any of the suburbs have thought of stepping up and taking on the project.

Come on to SA-Town NOH. We can handle two teams.

We have a large population of New Orleans transplants from Katrina that have made Texas their home.

We also have the historic Freeman Coliseum that you guys can have.

I disagree BR. This organization hasn't been that great to the city. The on-court product has been average at best. They also slapped the city in the face when they renamed the team Oklahoma City for two years and various comments from the owner and coaches kept coming out wanting to stay in OKC. They've also kept the silly brand that belongs in Charlotte instead of NOLA. Plus, the TV contract is abysmal where people who live 4-5 hours away can watch every Hornet games while people in the metro area can't. Plus, people in Mississippi or Alabama have no chance watching the Hornets on TV while they get to watch every Saints game. The Saints have always catered to the surrounding Gulf states while the Hornets have been incompetent. Shinn's a terrible cheap owner and left the team in debt for which Chouest has had to pay for. That's why Chouest is holding out on Shinn right now. Seriously look at all the bad contracts the team had which forced them to trade draft picks and Tyson Chandler. This hasn't been a great organization by any means. Demps and Monty were good hires, but until Shinn is gone and Chouest takes over the team, it will still be an average organization.

Plus this is the same team who choked in Game 7 on the home floor and the following year lost 121-63 in the home season finale. Why should casual fans take this team seriously? It's not like our "superstar" PG has led them to anything other than trade rumors.

    - son what did you expect them to do while in OKC? they had to sell tickets there too and it was only right to have BOTH OKC and NO on the jerseys. Now I would agree with you if the Hornets were only over there for say 6 months or so, but 2 years??? they had to do it.

    - the TV deal is another lame excuse. you're talking about roughly 180,000 people whenever the entire metro area is over 1.3 MILLION. also what about those people who don't even have cable TV? of course if those 180,000 people could watch every Hornets game it could help, but you're talking about well over 1 million other people to work with. its simply not a legit excuse for piss poor attendance.

    - I agree that Shinn is not a good owner, but to say that he is cheap is not true at all. Incompetent whenever it comes to BASKETBALL DECISIONS? YES ... but he is not cheap and has s ed out a lot of money on big contracts. Bad contracts are apart of all professional sports in any market large or small. It just happens.

    - The Hornets organization has done more for the community of New Orleans and Louisiana than arguably any other franchise in the NBA. It blows my mind that SOME people have the nerve to make comments like "the Hornets need to be out in the community more" ... that's just pure ignorance at its finest. Chris Paul just donated $500,000 of his own personal money to New Orleans schools. they are also constantly having "watch parties" all throughout the state at local restaurants trying to get people interested, but the problem is ... everyone wants a ing handout and free tickets

    here are more examples.

    Hoops for homes

Hoops for Homes, a program in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, provides much-needed housing to those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. The program will foster the construction of 20 new homes in the New Orleans area.

    SUMMER HOOPS CLINICS

The Hornets hold numerous fun-filled clinics throughout the summer months for children. The clinics feature speeches from Hornets players and coaches.

    WISH REQUESTS

Throughout the season, the Hornets work with various organizations to grant wishes for terminally and chronically ill children from around the country. For more information, contact the Community Relations Department.

    PLAYER SECTIONS

Several Hornets players purchase 20 tickets per game throughout the season. The tickets are given to underprivileged children through various non-profit organizations.

New Orleans Hornets forward Peja Stojakovic will dedicate a court to St. Andrew's School

the bottom line is that the Hornets organization may not be the best when it comes to basketball decisions, but they are NOT to blame if this team fails here. they have done more than their fair share to try and build support here, but of course people here will blame them for it. just like EVERYTHING else that fails here people in New Orleans point the blame to someone other than themselves. we may as well just blame the entire damn thing on Katrina now.

they would have to rename themselves supersonics if moving to seattle, but i decree that they will never agree to pick up the zombie name. Kansas will be the most likely imho.

Hm... besides the obvious KC/Seattle areas, what other metro areas might support a bball team?

St Louis? Virginia? Pittsburgh? Vegas? (Though they'd probably never do that one.)
