yeah and when spurs played there
love legs were cramping up and he draws a play up for love to shot a three for the tie late
Look at how bad Rambis was down the stretch. Players down by four with 29 seconds left and the don't foul immedietly or even soon. 15 seconds go off the clock before Manu is fouled going to the hole. They likely could have run more time off the clock.
Then look at the play were AD gets the open dunk due to a really bad full court press.
That was some of the worst coaching you'll ever see in the NBA.

It was awesome when he was coaching the Lakers
Did you see TD give Coach Mike props for that play that got RJ a wide-open dunk?
Haters gonna hate but the coaching staff wants execution and the W!!!
Bud outcoached Pop tonight tbh.
He told them not to foul.
I guess he had some brilliant plan where they would get a stop, then run off 4-points in 6-ish seconds.
Its' pretty bad when you get worked by the other team's top assistant. That Jefferson dive play for a dunk out of the TO was pure gold.
I noticed that too, great play by coach Bud
was it brewer or ridnour that chuck up the 3 with plenty of time on the shotclock and 1min to go? and it was 2-3ft behind 3pt line....fail
Yeah, before he took the Minny gig, there was talk of him succeeding PJ in LA when he retired. Buss would have to be a ing idiot to bring back Rambo-sweepmeister.
Ridnour
Pop light a fire under our guys tonight. He knew that our guys were sleepwalking out there and wanted to get ejected. If we played with the type of effort we played with in the 4th all game we would have won by 30
I think he was expecting Love to make that last free throw and cut the lead to three.
It was either Foul Manu and be down 6. Or get the ball witih 5 seconds left and be down 4. It wasn't a terrible call imo. Dragging it out would've been pretty draining in itself.
can somebody please post this play?
Four game sweep by the Spurs on their way to the first le in '99.
Rambis and co. closed down the Fabulous Forum.
Ridnour first, with the trey that was off, then Brewer with a quick foul line jumper miss. Between those two quick misses and the no foul on the pass in to Manu, they put themselves into a huge time black hole.
Being down 6 with 25+ seconds to go is so much better than being down 4 with 5 seconds left that its not even funny. It was an incredibly terrible call. With 25 seconds left you can extend the game quite a bit via fouls. With 5 seconds left you're pretty much ed.
The Spurs possession started with 28 seconds left and the Wolves didn't foul until 14 seconds were left. They clearly would have been better off fouling immediately.
Edit: Or what Manny said.
Yes, from a technical stand point it was but I thought the T-wolves were too tired to go through a 28second debacle. If Blair or Duncan had gotten the rebound they would have fouled, but it was Manu who is 90% from free throwline and a clutch foul shooter. Going down 6 would've pretty much sealed the thing also because then your just giving them time to rest and putting Manu on the line, where as if you just play on you cause turnovers or get a rebound with 5 seconds to work with. It wasn't a clear choice. The Spurs possession started with 28 seconds left and the Wolves didn't foul until 14 seconds were left. They clearly would have been better off fouling immediately.
It certainly was if your goal was to maximize your chances of winning the game.
The question is how were the Wolves in that spot to begin with? How is it that this Spurs team struggles with the Wolves and gets slaughtered against the Clips?
I still disagree...It certainly was if your goal was to maximize your chances of winning the game.
pop did a better coaching job than rambis from his seat in the lockeroom.
