Hornets Continue to Sputter With Comically Bad Shooting Day
The Hornets have lost eight of their last 12 games. They haven't scored 100 or more points in their last 12 tries. At this point, the only time people talk about their surprising 10-1 start it's in sentences like "Hey, what the heck happened to the Hornets after that surprising 10-1 start?"
Well, New Orleans is now 14-9 after a putrid 88-70 loss to the Sixers on Saturday. And in this case, a twitpic is worth a thousand statistics about poor shooting (image courtesy of Derek Bodner from Liberty Ballers).
Yes. The Hornets shot 14 percent in the first half and scored 23 points before the break.
The lowlight was a 10-point second quarter in which New Orleans managed to shoot 1 for 20 from the field. If you're wondering what that looks like, it looks like this.
New Orleans scraped together enough makes to finish the game shooting 30 percent from the floor (24-for-79). Chris Paul even shot 8 for 12 from the floor. Unfortunately, Willie Green, Trevor Ariza and David West combined to hit four field goals on 28 attempts.
In the end, it was the fewest points scored against the Sixers since January 30, 2008. In that game that game Royal Ivey started and played 43 minutes for the Milwaukee Bucks. The end.
