I've always been kinda confused as to how Latinos identify themselves as well. White people come from Europe, which includes Spain and Portugal. Black people come from Africa. But from what I know Latinos are pretty much the biggest mix up of races and cultures. A bunch of Spanish and Portuguese (who have light skin if you've ever actually been there) came over to the America's and bred with the natives and. So I don't understand how that can be considered a race. They're pretty much diluted Europeans. If I'm wrong, just tell me where instead of nerd raging for 4 paragraphs

Spain and Portugal are Latin countries, same as France and Italy (and probably some other European countries that I'm forgetting). The American countries conquered by those Europeans ones are also Latin countries (Latin America: from Mexico to Argentina), so a latino is a person that was born in one of those countries no matter what race he/she is. For example, as someone said before: in Mexico most of the people are mestizos (that's what most people think about when they say latino), but in countries like Argentina and Uruguay most people are white (in fact I think the white to other races ratio is even bigger than in the US) and they are latinos too. The word "Latin" is related to the culture and languge, not the race.
