Yao develops a stress fracture annually through basic wear and tear. Bynum gets hurt when Kobe Warren Sapps his knee.

    Yes, Yao Jr indeed.

    Well fk! This just blows!

So pissed off. Yao for your own good just retire. I would if I kept breaking something every freaking year. I mean that's pain, walking boot, rehab it's ridiculous. I think mentally he's gotta be worn out from all the work he has done just to get to where he could play on the court early this year. I was worried that having one foot with a lowered arch would screw up his overall body biomechanics.

The above link is the doctors opinion on the latest injury.

So the update from the Houston radio is that is his season is officially over. He will need 1 or more surgeries. Also said that this injury is similar to Grant Hill's injury awhile back.

Good career Yao sorry to see it end so soon.

Rockets get an injury exception. Should just tank the rest of the season and get a new center.

I was going to make a joke about cheap Chinese goods, but Yao always been a great guy, so I'll let classless Lakerfan do that...

Just wait until the Spurs dump Tiago for chump change and he's free to become a good player. Duncan just makes other bigs worse; he's the anti-Bynum (your welcome Pau)

sucks, yao was a good player, but like others said dudes his size always have injury problems...

I dont get why people blame the chinese NT, he played a lot more minutes for the rockets than he did for the NT. his height was the root of his problems, and it sucks because he probably could have still been a good player even if he was 6-8 inches shorter.

If he were just 4 inches shorter at 7'2" he probably would have not have any problems with his bones.

I think it's safe to say that Morey will not resign him. His contract is up. On top of that, I doubt any other GM in the league will take a chance on him either. The radio hosts said that if they open him up one more time it runs the risk of infection and for sure they expect him to develop arthritis later in life just like Bill Walton who now walks with a limp and with pain everyday.

Terrible News. I was hoping that he'd have a Zydrunas Illgauskas-type comeback and somehow manage to make something of his career. I think the future holds a return to China to possibly play for a team there since he'll probably feel the need to play even if it isn't at the highest level. Sorry to hear that, Rocket fans...I know the Lakers have a player whom track record of staying healthy is pretty shoddy in its own right.
agree 100%. Sad to see the recent injuries to: Noah, Oden, Yao (all bigs) and even the limited effectiveness of Roy. Houston has some great fans (it's one of the few opposing team sites I have ever visited besides here Sacto and Phoenix) ... i just hope the Rox dont hang on to all the young talent: hill, Buddinger and now williams without making a move for a true super-star. this is a star league you need one to win ..

You got it! Hopefully, we can blow this team up and tank the rest of the year. We aren't gonna be able to trade for a superstar/game changer. The only way we are getting them is thru the draft. So we need to be terrible the rest of this year and next year .

I'd imagine some contending team would love to have Scola or Martin as a starter or 6th man or Brad Miller/Chuck Hayes for depth. We've got Patrick Patterson in the D-League just so he can get minutes and when I've watched him play I've liked what I saw. Throw him and Hill out there along with Terrence Williams and let's see what we've got.

Poor foolish Yao. China overworking him is the main reason these injuries have occurred as early as they have. They were probably inevitable, but on the good side of 30?

Memphis is going to have to get profitable otherwise they are in jeapordy of NBA contraction. So are the Timberwolves, Toronto, New Orleans

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/4...ns-in-jeopardy

Lets hope Morey can get a good big from one of these teams. Particularly the Grizzlies that are overloaded at the Center position.

i'd love to pick up thabeet if memphis is just gonna give him away. it sounded like they just wanted to get rid of his contract from what some media sources were saying. who cares! pick him up and play him even if he is a re on offense.

to your other point i do agree the nba should contract. 24 or 26 teams would be a lot better than 30 teams. would anyone really care if charlotte, new orleans, cleveland, toronto, minny, or memphis were gone from the league?
