lol 17th
not at all son ... but you would be foolish to ignore them just to push your favorite player to the top like many Spurs fans do with Duncan.
I clearly stated in the first post of this thread that I LEFT OUT quite a few players who currently have BETTER stats than Duncan does, but in my opinion they are having "fluke" years. I only listed the players who are clearly better than Duncan is right now. also again give or take a few, Duncan is around the 44th best player in the NBA right now.
It still discredits this pile of a thread.
TD is better than:
Spurs
Tony Parker 18/7 - Duncan 13/9
Atlanta
Joe Johnson 17/5 - Duncan 13/9
Boston
Paul Pierce 18/5 - Duncan 13/9
Ray Allen 17ppg - Duncan 13/9
Kevin Garnett 15/10 - Duncan 13/9
Chicago
Derrick Rose 24/8 - Duncan 13/9
Denver
Carmelo Anthony 24/8 - Duncan 13/9
Golden State
Monta Ellis 24/5 - Duncan 13/9
Stephen Curry 20/5 - Duncan 13/9
David Lee 14/10 - Duncan 13/9
Houston
Kevin Martin 23ppg - Duncan 13/9
Luis Scola 20/8 - Duncan 13/9
Indiana
Danny Granger 21/5 - Duncan 13/9
Los Angeles Clippers
Eric Gordon 23/5 - Duncan 13/9
Blake Griffin 20/12 - Duncan 13/9
Los Angeles Lakers
Lamar Odom 16/10 - Duncan 13/9
Memphis
Rudy Gay 21/6 - Duncan 13/9
Zach Randolph 18/12 - Duncan 13/9

Andrew Bogut 14/12 - Duncan 13/9
New Orleans
David West 19/7 - Duncan 13/9
Oklahoma City
Kevin Durant 27/6 - Duncan 13/9
Portland
LaMarcus Aldridge 18/8 - Duncan 13/9
Toronto
Andrea Bargnani 21/6 - Duncan 13/9
Utah
Paul Millsap 17/8 - Duncan 13/9
Al Jefferson 16/8 - Duncan 13/9
Hollinger, the king of stats, completely destroys this list. /thread.
BR is right. Nothing wrong with his logic. Spurs fans are blinded by Duncan's nuts in their faces to see the truth. You would think they are saving him for later in the season but will he still be able to take over against younger and more active big men in the league that late in the season? And how long will Parker and Ginobli hold up? Can they keep up this uptempo pace all season they they have traditionally not played? All valid questions. It just remains to be seen. Duncan will go off from time to time but they really don't need him to right now. Can't argue with the record.
son again LIKE I SAID FROM THE START .... give or take a FEW, and when I say few I mean 2-4 players ... however I would love to hear your argument as to how Mr. 13 points per game Duncan is still better than anyone you decided to list above?
You are lucky spur fans (mostly myself) are so classy and cool. If this were one of your butthurt fan boards everyone would be banned.
Spurs fans (me) are some cool customers.
banned for what though son??? ... posting STATS??? jesus christ why are some of you so mad about this? If it helps, I took the stats from ESPN.com and Basketball-Reference.com!
Reread what I said dip . This is Hollinger's list, Mr. Stats himself of who is better than who. Has nothing to do with me.
Cool story stat boy/Hollinger...![]()
lol son no wonder you have 5.3 Million post
lol post count
So you are saying the spurs board isn't cool while your fan board is full of butthurt? Is this not fact
son this is the best sports message board out there. you and I both know that. however I had no idea that simply by posting the facts and stats that it would cause so much butthurt by some of you!
If we're talking strictly regular season, then BRHornet is mostly right. Duncan can't play at a high level for 82 games anymore. You'd be better off with about 80% of the guys he listed.
Of course, the true measuring stick for greatness lies in the playoffs. Luckily for the Spurs, they don't need Duncan to carry them on their backs to the playoffs like the old days. In May or June, when Duncan is really trying, I'd take maybe 25% of those guys ahead of him.
lol BR trolling. Pretty good job, I must say. God bless, son.
Sons, do you not get d slapped by butthurt when you post attendance stats for your own team on their board?
Proves my point.
Spurs fans = cool
Other fans = butthurt
You are all welcome here though.
son props to you for being the FIRST Spurs fan to add a legit argument to this discussion. Only time will tell if Duncan can lead his team in the playoffs this season like he did in 99, 03, and 05 though. God knows he hasn't been able to do that in 4 seasons though.
Son I am not discounting that stats do play a role in identifying a player's worth to a team. I'll give you several players on your list that are worth they're weight in points and rebounds. However, many from the list you complied are players on teams with mediocre to less than stellar records.
Now, if these players were better than Duncan, as you say, wouldn't that reflect better team records? If they were that much better, wouldn't the GSW have a better record than the Spurs?
Duncan has declined somewhat, most players do as they age, but to the degree that you and some claim comes off as trolling more than anything.
Bottom line is the Spurs have been winning as Duncan has taken a backseat to some of the guys on the team. That doesn't make him any less valuable or less important. His role has been reduced, and that's a luxury the Spurs can afford. He no longer has to be the go to guy and put up 20/10 each night for the Spurs to be successful.
He could be saving himself for when it really counts.
Ah yes, ignore my posts. Hollinger stats > Your stats.
not at all son. the team record is based on more than just one or two outstanding players. Duncan is fortunate to be on a DAMN GOOD basketball team right now. you could replace Duncan with about 90% of ANY power fowards in the NBA right now and the Spurs would still be a damn good team. it takes more than just one or two star players to have success.
See the 2002-2003 Spurs. Duncan carried that sorry ass team to a trophy. Please tell me how they had DRob and Parker and Ginobili so that must be wrong.![]()
