bone to pick, with TNT & ESPN. & also the officials.

Through the entire game, when it was Spur's possession, they brought up a split-screen to interview Orlando's coaches and . They exploded every time the Magic made a mundane play, and then even complained that Howard was getting bull fouls called on him.

You gotta be kidding me. The officials always "officiate" against us. Go ahead and say I'm making excuses, but from an unbiased birds-eye view of NBA games, the Spurs are not just trying to beat the opposing team, but the officials as well. I'm not sure if the refs just go dumb every spurs game, or if they just don't care. But an unbiased person can easily admit, that during Spur's games, the officiating is atrocious.

Every single NBA commercial features all these players who haven't won , & we're lucky if we get to see a split-second screen shot of TD's face.

On another note, Splitter looked very lost today. I'm not worried, but he had butterfingers, and wasn't aware of the ball at all.

But boy, it's still a great time to be Spur's fan.

You know what, there's a number of insults I can type, all of which have been overused. But I just don't think you're worth it BUMP, because I think you're lonely, you spend so much time on ST, it would be understandable if you came every once and while to poke fun, but no, you dwell on this forum. & what satisfaction does that give you? Is it going to help you find a girlfriend spending all your time here? Come on man, I've told a few other people, and I'll tell you, you need to focus on growing up a little more.

Yeah, I've always been aware of that. But this season, it's very aggravating. Because there are a lot of great teams in the NBA right now, but the Spurs are humble, and still unbelievable. This world doesn't respect humility, and it's disgusting.

Yeah. & it doesn't make any sense. How can our team be boring? Just because we don't do 360 dunks, and alley-oops from half-court? If those things are the reasons why you watch basketball, then you aren't a fan at all. I don't think any team in the league can be boring.

But it gives The Spurs a more heroic look to their fans, because they're always overcoming adversity, and it's so much sweet when they persevere.

The refs suck period, though every team seems to think it is just against them. You are not also playing against the refs.. heard this excuse for 6 years from Detroit fans and that's all it is is a bull excuse. There are questionable calls during an nba game and during the year.. within a year you will have some go your way and some not go your way. There will be calls that were made wrongly and calls that were made correct. In the end it balances out as even as it can.

I'm not saying there's some kind of conspiracy with the officials. I can rewind the games, and put them in slow-motion, & since the beginning of the season, I've seen the Spurs get all ball, and get called for the foul, I've seen the other team shoving arms out of the way vigorously and not get a call. I've seen Splitter draw the most beautiful charges and get a defensive foul.

You can understand why I'm frustrated.

They aren't overcoming adversity lol. The NBA is a business.. you are going to make money off the true basketball fans but the majority of your money is going to be made from people that are fair-weather fans that come to be entertained and see dunks. Your average nba customer is not paying to go see a game to see how great a team runs a pick and roll. They are coming to see something like the blake griffin is doing right now.

Is your team boring to actuall basketball fans? No.. is it to those that aren't and are going to a game to see something exciting and something that is high flying? Yes. Your team is not easily to advertise when the main thing that attracts the casual NBA fan is slam dunks.

Once you understand that this is nothing personal and that the NBA is a business and this is how they make their money the quicker people move on from this "our team is disrespect and we have to overcome adversity" angle. Heard this for years in Detroit.. But they are short sighted and don't recall that when we had a player like that, Grant Hill, we got attention and marketing by the NBA. Just as well, if you had Blake Griffin you would be advertised as much. Understand that this is a business and the common customer is not a basketball junky looking for advanced fundamentals and defense.

yeah its about halfway to wwe.

it really sucks that the league with all the best players is also so ing stupid about the rules and officiating. they have to be really careful treading that line, because if the average moron figures out it's fake it might blow up in their face.

before you call me a conspiracy theorist, listen to some facts. the NBA changed the hand check rules to prevent defense from being as effective after the spurs won multiple championships with extremely low ratings. they also changed rules around to help michael jordan-style wing players score easier. i remember some arcticle that mentioned after MJ retired the league's viewers went down some ridiculous amount, like 30%. every sign is there that the league operates with it's own profits in mind. remember when the NBA commisioner said his dream finals matchup was the lakers vs the lakers? they even fine players and coaches for any kind of discussion or disagreement of the officiating now.

the problem for the league is that the spurs are a good enough team to beat everyone's ass WITH the bull calls.

I think I can point to the biggest reason why: the ratings in the 2007 NBA Finals. Even though it had one of the league's premier young talents that'll probably be a top 5 GOAT named LeBron James going up against the GOAT PF and his arguable dynasty of a team it had really ty ratings. They were historically bad if I remember right and thats a huge problem for a major sport to have when their championship games aren't even being watched by casual fans. On Bill Simmons' ESPN Podcast he even had Stern on and ragged him about it

Afterwards the legendary Lakers and Celtics rivalry conveniently got reignited with the infamous Gasol and KG trades and those two teams helped saved the NBA's ratings like they did in the Bird/Magic era. Casual fans returned to their big name bandwagons and who can blame them with the star studded casts they've got as rosters...imo a healthy Lakers and Celtics team have been on another tier in terms of attention and rankings than the rest of the playoffs teams for the past three seasons.

Because of the huge difference in ratings between the 2007 Finals and LA/Boston's, plus the huge ratings that The Decision got --- I think television and marketing departments across the nation got the memo that the casual basketball fan is nowhere near as interested in the Spurs as they are LA, Boston, and the controversial Heat. Thus they'll be treated as such especially since the Spurs got swept last year and haven't been to a conference finals for too many years in this world of "what have you done for me lately?". Hard to blame 'em when it comes to the business side of things...

There's nothing exciting about the Spurs beating the Magic. If the Magic win, that's exciting. Announcers do not care who does what on the Spurs team. They will give Duncan his eulogy once a game, then they will mention how Parker is a quick one and how he gets to the rim, and that Ginobili is all over the place, but the rest of the game is about the opposition when that opposition is a larger market team.

I also get a bit annoyed when the game becomes smaller than the stats. I have a nice big TV for a reason, and not so I can see stats better. Stats can scroll, I don't need to minimize the game to see Reggie's pointless points. I also don't need to see the assistant coach for Orlando 12 times a quarter. TNT misses more action because of meandering than any other network. Also, their on court camera doesn't seem to be HD, so the resolution changes with that view.

The commentators talk about everything except the game. In the first quarter when the Spurs were down and came back to lead, there were a few minutes that nothing pertaining to the game was said. The Spurs just kept scoring. At the end of their run, Kevin Harlan announced that the Spurs were on an 11-2 run.

But TNT isn't the only biased network. If you notice Entertaining Sensational Players Network, there's a section about the greatest championship trio ever, based on Hollinger's stats. Second on that list is the 2007 trio of Parker, Duncan and Ginobili just beneath the Bulls. However, the picture on the top of the page shows the Bulls and Lakers alongside the Heat. It doesn't show the Spurs even though Hollinger himself ranked them 2nd, ahead of the Lakers.

Maybe Pop pissed off too many journalists during his tenure, who knows. Media outlets have an unspoken blacklist and the Spurs seem to be atop it.

Give me a break. They did it to increase offense in the game. You don't sell defense to the average NBA fan. Sorry they aren't changing the rules to try and make sure the spurs don't make it to the finals and it isn't anywhere near scripted. If it were they did a great job of scripting Nets/Spurs, Pistons/ Spurs finals and they sure suck ass getting their most marketable players in the finals each year and their most marketable a ring.

I don't really want to watch a 54-41 game played by nobodies.
That's because you don't understand the game. I love HS basketball. It's very exciting, and there's nothing like a small gym and a big game, the smell of popcorn and all that.

If you need stars to make your game watching enjoyable, you might ought to think about the Heat.

Ask yourself what's important, another championship banner or more TV exposure?
