That might have seemed like a crass question to ask but I was genuinely curious. The reason is, let's say for example she did get your kids presents (her grandkids) would you let them have them or would you be too worried they'd mess them up, being that they are the last gifts she'd ever give them? Did you get her anything? Kinda crazy that she'll never get to see it, what was it?

You'd think the last thing on his mind would be to get on SpursTalk but it wasn't.

Yes, we got each other presents. Hers was sitting on her dining room table, and mine hasn't arrived yet. She did get presents for my grandkids (her great-grandkids). She bought brass telescopes for them all, and they are still sitting in her living room. My sister and I are going to have them engraved & give them to the kids probably next week. Not a bad memento from great grandma. Since she lived on the east coast, getting plane tickets has been a real pain in the ass, since so many flights were cancelled, there weren't any seats available until the end of the week. Mom's wishes were that she be cremated, and that couldn't be accomplished until we got a death certificate, which won't happen until tomorrow since everything was shut down for Christmas. Since travel is so hazardous right now, my sister and I decided to hold her memorial service in the spring, when her surviving friends will be able to be there, and all her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids can be there, too.
That's 3 kids, 5 grandkids, 18 great grandkids, and 6 great great grandkids.

Cyrano I'm sorry for your loss but I'm glad you were able to talk to her the day before she passed away. Just goes to prove what they mean when you hear, "you never know when it will be the last tme". I hope your memories are comforting you at this time.

Yes, it's comforting to know that the last words we spoke to each other were "I love you".

2 years ago my dad died on 12/4. My daughter was less than 2 months old, my son a little over 2 years old and I was only 26 and he was 49. I know how hard it is to get through the holidays, or any day for that matter.

    Good luck with that.

My mom just died this morning. I spoke with her just yesterday, and she seemed well and happy, and we were planning my next visit after the new year.
A close family friend dropped by her house this morning, and found her.
I'm sorry. I lost my dad in March of 2006 and it takes effort to not want to go over to his apartment and ask him out to dinner, almost five years later. I hope you and your family can get through this difficult time. Just remember the good things, the happy memories, share them, and you'll never forget her. My condolences again.
