Mike Singletary has been fired as coach of the San Francisco 49ers after three seasons, the team announced Sunday.
Team owner Jed York replaced Singletary with defensive line coach Jim Tomsula on an interim basis.

Singletary had a great 1st year.
Wonder if his players failure to match his playing days effort and intensity just fried him too much?
If effort and intensity were all you needed to coach, Singletary would have been the best coach in the NFL the first day he put on a headset, but obviously, it's not.
This year's Niners team was the worst coached team I've ever seen. How many timeouts did they burn this just because they couldn't get a play in on time, or waffled on 4th down decisions? I'm having a hard time remembering a game this year that didn't happen at least once.
He'll likely end up landing a job somewhere as a LB's coach,which is where he was before being prematurely promoted to HC.
We all saw this coming.
I saw it on the day he got promoted. He is pretty god awful as a coach. He strikes me as being very buffoonish. He's gonna be another Wade Phillips...good coordinator, awful head coach.
Well, many in the Bay are already screaming for Harbaugh.
Need a GM first, preferably somebody with a load of experience with a winning organization

1. Cowher
2. Gruden
3. Harbaugh
My choice for GM?
Holmgren. Like he's really happy in Cleveland
