OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Dallas Mavericks will likely be without star forward Dirk Nowitzki for the second half of their Monday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder because of a a sore right knee.
The team announced that his return is doubtful. Nowitzki left the game at the 9:10 mark of the second quarter after his momentum from a fallaway jumper caused him to stumble backward to the floor. He was fouled on the play, but it appeared that he tripped over his own foot, causing him to fall. How can someone who is such a klutz shoot the damn ball so well??
Nowitzki, who is averaging 24.5 points and 7.6 rebounds, had 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting when he exited the game. After he left, the Mavs scored just 14 points and were outscored by the Thunder 20-14 to go into halftime tied 56-56.
The Mavs play again Tuesday night at home against the Toronto Raptors and then on Thursday against Southwest Division rival San Antonio.
Dallas is also without reserve forward Brian Cardinal (stomach illness) in Oklahoma City, leaving it without a true power forward on the roster. Small forward Steve Novak and fourth-string center Alexis Ajinca are active.

marion maybe a fine PF in hustle offense but theres no of way he works fine in half-court offense which the mavs play 9/10 of the time. same concern exists at the defensive end as well, if you assign marion to guard some beefy guy like milsap then you are ed. your 2nd best PF on your squad is Brian Cardinal
